Personally I reckon Fat Boy Kim is trying to show the world how big his balls are. He's young, he's inexperienced and he's trying to make his mark. Little boys playing with big toys and all that. Will he fire? Not sure. But I certainly don't believe they have enough firepower to nuke the US. And if he did have a shorter range nuke, surely he must realise that he would not only nuke South Korea, Japan and maybe China, but his own fat ass too.

As for him being on windows 8? Nah, I reckon he's still on BASIC! lol

North Korea poses a far more significant threat than Afghanistan or Iraq ever did or than they do now. Pull all troops from there - ALL of them, and shut this cult down.

So, a pre-emptive military "intervention?"

I think it's a much better idea to go the diplomacy route with North Korea's allies than it is with North Korea itself. We aren't really at risk here, but some of our allies are. I could see sending in some operatives to produce a grass roots push for democracy, but that would be as invasive as I think our role should be (not saying we should do it, but that if we did, we shouldn't get involved any further than that). Maybe it would be an "Asian Spring" for North Korea.

Any military adventures initiated by Little Kimmy are limited to land invasions - he doesn't have the means to try aerial or sea borne invasions. So it's reasonable to conclude that his goals are not military. Previous attempts by the West to buy North Korea off have not proved to be totally successful (from a Western perspective), so he needs to make a lot more noise than usual to get the West to respond. I believe this offers a reasonable explanation of his current brinkmanship.

Of course his long term goal is reunification, but on his terms. South Korea's long term goal is exactly the same so it shouldn't be any cause for alarm. It would be a cause for alarm if Little Kimmy's goal was not reunification.

His grandfather was not doomed when he attacked the South. The North could shut their factories, form up their millions into brigades, and once again be down to Pusan in a NY minute. From what I have read there are many old timers in the South who also long for reunification.

It is a conceit of the West to think he is putting on a show for our attention, I think. North Koreans are a proud people. Uber nationalism at work here.
