Injuries are coming into the hospitals...one reporter said she saw victims with missing limbs.I hope they catch whoever did this quickly and that there are few victims. My heart does go out to those involved.

OsideGirl -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 1:05:41 PM)

They just reported 2 people dead (watching CNN)

They also said that DC has followed New York's lead in tightening security.

OsideGirl -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 1:27:06 PM)

CNN is saying (unconfirmed) that they have found 2 more "explosive devises" and one was detonated by the bomb squad.

Yachtie -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 1:29:53 PM)

They need to deactivate one. Look at the components. Keep some clues.

LadyPact -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 1:33:39 PM)

Thanks to those who provided the links. I'm not sure I'm ready to see that video, Hill.

I hope they get the injured treated as quickly as possible. It must be a very chaotic and frightening scene.

Doesn't sound like a stupid accident.
This is sad, and I hope they find the responsible parties, and hang them.

Yeah, I know, apparently they found three more devices. IED disposal detonated one near the library.

There's no way to confirm anything but they have at least one intact device and a suspect in the hospital with shrapnel wounds who was seen on surveillance videos with multiple backpacks.

Probably wishful thinking but.....................

I hate to say it, but we've been overdue for something like this. For decades now, we've been lucky and good at keeping the animals responsible for acts like this at bay, but sooner or later, they will succeed. God have mercy on the dead and injured, and none for those responsible.

Just for clarification: They said it was the JFK Library which is out by UMass Boston, which is south Boston on Old Harbor.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 2:05:06 PM)

They're saying the fire at the JFK library wasn't related.

Please, we have taken a big dump on the constitution recently to prevent stuff like this and we still got hit. Lucky maybe, but good no. We may or may not have been overdue, we need to find out who and maybe why they did it, then we can try and understand the tragedy.

Mercy for all those affected

jezzabelle -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 2:17:43 PM)

Overdue for this? Really? WTF kind of comment is that? We should never be "overdue" for something as horrible as this, it shouldn't be something that is expected! And I will apologize right now if I come off bitchy in my response, but I live not far from Boston and I have friends that were running the marathon so it's been a stressful afternoon. The only saving grace is that my friends and family there are safe and my heart aches for those that weren't so lucky [:(]

WildfireBurning -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 2:18:24 PM)

Injury count now at 49. Fatalities are still listed as 2 according to CNN.

TallullahHk -> RE: Explosions at Boston Marathon (4/15/2013 2:21:36 PM)

I live within 2 miles of all 3 bombs.
1 detonated within feet of the finish line, 1 detonated 3 blocks away from the original and the 3rd happened at the JFK Library. The injuries from the first 2 explosions are predominately lower extremities. The first bomb was in a trash can. Many many people have lost limbs.

2 additional undetonated bombs were found as well.

The images are horrific and I'm praying that all of my friends are safe.

Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis on Monday confirmed a third explosion at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, following two earlier blasts at the Boston Marathon finish line that killed at least two people.

The images have been horrible. I'm just still in shock.
