When we have soldiers in harm's way for no reason? There's no 'clear and present danger' to the survival of the union, so every dead soldier since 9/11 has been a complete and total waste, and we need to stop the pointless sacrifice.

BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!

We can prosecute the fraudsters who lied to put them in danger once they're safe.

Wars have become so impersonal that praising someone for fighting for my sake in one seems a bit odd. Soldiers don't fight for what I want. They fight for what someone says I want and then feel entitled to gratitude afterwards. I'd be more grateful to a neighbor for saving my newspaper from the rain than someone insisting on fighting a bad guy on my behalf even after I say 'come home'.

Because part of Memorial Day is remembering to not let those who have died, sacrifice be in vain, but for us all to rise up and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.

Good posts Aylee and DC.

Lets not forget we are not just remembering those who have died recently but those of the two world wars. The majority of those who died did so in defence of the nation. If blame is to be laid at anyones feet for being unjust, surely it has to be the politicians.

I cannot help but think that Fargle is a rather miserable person. I have never seen a positive post from him. Perhaps we should all hope that the Blue Bird of Happiness visits him soon.

Do you realize that Memorial Day also commemorates the men and slaves who died so that you wouldn't have to be a slave? The men and women who died so you could live free to spout nonsense like you just did?

Seems like your neighbor has a valid reason for leaving your newspaper out in the rain.

For those who do not want to have a day to remember the men who fought and died at the behest of this country, I suggest you might want to say that to a stadium full of veterans.

It does not matter if you consider the war immoral, unjust, started with lies, or whatever.

Any man or woman in uniform does not have the option to just say no.

So by all means, go to a gathering of vets with a bullhorn and spew your thoughts on this. If you get out in one piece, great. If you dont, then you can be a martyr to the cause of peace no matter what.

They fight because that is the oath they took. They follow the orders given because we the people (that is you too sweetie) allow it via the politicians.

They do not feel entitled to a damn thing.

I think your posts and the OP are good examples of some of the reasons many of our service people wonder why they make the sacrifices they do.

If you don't like it, become part of the political revolution and change things.

The internet affords people the comfort of say what they please and not have to worry about consequences of saying it around the wrong people.

This is a sad fucking thread and hope the mods pull it and slam ban the OP and any that want to post douchery words against those that make the ultimate sacrifice.

FFS people, what is wrong with some of you?

Let me play the advocatus diaboli here. I am not American, I am not anti-American (I have been "accused" of being both, curious enough). I was 100% against the intervention in Iraq, no so in Afghanistan.

So, let us speak if you want. What would have been your reaction to the 11S ? You are Bush (don't be scared, it is only a mental hypothesis, mental in more than one sense).
