Anyway, as one who was pretty much the other half of the mob beat-down in that thread and in the "Need Advice ASAP" thread, I noted 2 points about the overall the behaviour.

1. That CM regulars (as a group) are often quick to jump all over newbies asking a question in the forums.

2. That women (as a group) are quick to dump on another woman.

I originally referred to point 1 as cliquey behaviour, even if there's no actual defined clique. One poster makes a sneering judgement of something the newbie OP says and then comes the pile-on from the CM regulars. Many don't make any attempt to even address what the OP's asked.

And point 2 is as old as the ages. Just happened (I s'pose) that both those OP's were female and it was mostly females putting the collective boot in.

Focus.

Um... you should have seen that guy get his ass kicked in off topic yesterday. If you had, you would have noted that it wasn't just women chasing after women to mess them up... but women and men expressing exactly what they thought of the situation and many of them in agreement. Where were the mad protectors of this guy or do we only protect women... and even silly women at that?

Some things get slanted depending on our view or maybe even a motivation and some things complete a circle, by way of contributions by those victimized. Some even forget their own posting history.

Hell, some of the people I seemingly agree with, I don't even like and I can assure you, many of them can't tolerate me either.

Can we get back to mob video's now? Maybe?

Nope, men get blasted too.

What the mod said about attacking the post and not the poster is the issue.

I get it.

Problem is, some posters take criticism of the post way too personally and then it all turns bad for them.

Read all the posts where someone asks a question people answer their opinion and then, POW, they say OMG you are all so mean!

Nothing can help people who post expecting all hearts and flowers agreement from all.

#2.. women are pretty hard on other women at times.. I am not sure i could work with one.. in the past i have had female employees and they actually werent very loyal.. sometimes even back stabbing & biting the hand.. I tend to get along with men better, on the whole.. maybe cuz with guys there is no competition?.. (dudes just naturally like me.. )

#1.. some of the newbies make the same posts.. you know.. too many fakes (that recent one went multi-pages long in a few hours), whiney doesnt go over very well here.. I tend to ignore those..

I end up mostly in P & R where there are no newbies to be found.. unfortunately those discussions, its almost predictible now-a-days..

Sometimes it can be interesting watching "mob behaviour" tho.. and some people can even make money by investing contrary to the herd.. The Madness of Crowds.. and all that..

The movie Day of the Locust was interesting but scary also.. talk about mob behaviour..

Well yeah, I made that point, too, maybe it was even to you. Not sure; had a few posts nuked by the Admins. Including how I like your new avatar. Ruthless Chi! Or poise.... Or...?

These "some posters" are all too often newbies. Not knowing how the system works defines their newbie-ism. And I'm at least one who can't and won't blame them for that.

Nothing can help people who post expecting all hearts and flowers agreement from all.

Again, blaming newbies for being new. And I'm sure it's not just me who can see considerable acreage between "all hearts and flowers agreement" and the gang-bashing of regulars on newbie.

Focus.

Focus.

The majority of threads, all on the first page of each forum, posted by a newbie didn't get anything close to the "mob mentality".

You're painting a whole group of people as a "clique" and you're taking the minority of threads and making it sound like all newbies get hunted down and skewered. They don't.
