Status: offline 		There's as many overweight males as there are females, only on men its usually called *love handles*  and with most men being taller they can carry it better. Women have a tendancy to hold onto to weight more its because we bare young.
Personally I want a person with weight on them, I'm not attracted to the so thin. That's just me

Pertaining to Dommes. I'd guess off the top of my head the most obvious answer would be...

The vanilla world tends to glamourize the petite, and belittle the overweight. So, it would make since that a person that was constantly bombarded with images of inferiority via the media, and people, would be attracted to a lifestyle were they can ascert control over others and be worshipped.  To get that sense of worth that everywhere besides here tends to attempt to leech out of a heavier person.

Maybe... don't know just one solution....

In regards to subs....

Maybe a overweight sub/slave, has also retreated here as a place to receive appreciation, and acceptance based on other qualities besides her body(hopefully both). Having lived a life being judged negatively about ones body, it would make sense. If one serves well, she/he is appreciated and cared for, and sometimes loved. It seperates worth from physical appearance.

Maybe don't know just one solution....


Honestly I don't know, just possible explanation. I'm overweight, couldn't tell you, why there are more overweight people. Sounds like a need for a scientific study.

i don't think there has been a controled and/or accurate and overall study regarding BDSMers & who weighs in at what, etc. i think that many could agree that many BDSMers, regardless of sexual orientation do not fall within the thin, average or not underweight categories. However, i've not ever taken the time to search for such a study.
 
Regarding the question of the OP:
 
It's only a guess on my part, and i would think that perhaps it has something to do with the fact that a greater percentage of the population IS overweight vs not.
 
What left me scratching my head regarding the question of the OP:
 
Even without a study, i think most would note that thin to underweight people are a minority. More people in society are overweight than not. It beats me how a minority group could assume the role of the majority.
 
 
my personal opinion:
 
1.Outter appearances are so VERY overrated. Regardless of how pretty the outside wrapping, if the stuff found inside of the package is ugly and conflicts with the outter ... i lose interest pretty damn quickly.
2.i don't wish to point a direct finger at anyone .... BUT, what i wish more people would be able to wrap their heads around: It's just as much of an insult to express negative opinions and derogatory remarks, or unwanted attention toward the size of thin/skinny/underweight people .... as it is to express negative opinions and derogatory remarks, or unwanted attention toward the size of those who are heavy/overweight.
3.Whether thin/underweight or heavy/overweight we're speaking of people who have feelings.
4.It would be a great thing if more people concerned themselves with not stepping on the feelings of others rather than what other people weigh.

Collarme searches using weight as a criterea support LA's observations. Her figure of about 70% being overweight strikes me as dead on given the percentages here on CM. Needless to say that figure is much higher than one finds in the general population.

Her description of how these threads typcially go here on the CMMB comports with what I have seen as well. She nails it pretty good saying, "I hate them because they never go anywhere productive- it always turns into a "Fat women unite!" and "Love people for their inside" kumbaya/bash anyone who dares mention that fat isn't positive fest."

Stick around, in a couple of months some newbie will stir the same pot and the soup will taste exactly the same.

Mist (may i call you erin?), we seem to be repeating ourselves, yet getting no where.

Let me ask this: Should i have taken offense of the OP just because i'm overweight? I don't think so. I'm not easily offended, and most definitely didn't find anything offensive from the OP

What i found offensive were the resposnes. Nobody should be flaming Six. He did nothing wrong. It was the way everyone percived the question that pissed them off so much.

Maybe anyone who took offense to the OP needs to take a look at themselves. And maybe they need to think harder and longer the next time they want to answer a post.

Status: offline 		Honestly?  I LIKE that collarme has that on there.  As an overweight woman, the last thing I want is to be contacted by some guy who thinks I'm everything he's looking for... then suddenly runs for the hills, or decides he will accept me "despite" my weight (huh! he can feel my toe kicking his ass right out the door).  I'd FAR more rather have someone to whom weight as NOT an issue at all, and that is reflected in their search parameters.

I do understand that the issue of weight is a very personal one. I can see where some folks would have a hard time not getting themselves caught up in the personal side of it, especially if it is an issue that they struggle with. I have a difficult time understanding when someone can not take out a moment to step back far enough from the situation to see the situation for what it actually is. When several people are telling me..."Hey you're misinterpreting this", I have to stop and look at it from some other angles and see if they might be right. Sometimes people react from the gut and it's hard for them to stop defending themselves long enough to see that they were never really being attacked in the first place. Been there, done it myself.

It's pretty difficult to ignore someone who wieghs 400/600 pounds, and *is in your face naked* at a bdsm dungeon.  It presents a pretty big canvas. Especially when there are several of the same in attendence.

Proportionally?  It's probably the same overall ratio in public-but they have thier clothes on.

Status: offline 		I can assure you it works both ways in fact I sometimes think in the UK more men my age (40s) are overweight than women and it's not attractive.    All I need is parity - so a similar BMI is fine. Sadly we have in the UK and the US an obesity epidemic which is very sad and hard to deal with. It's easy enough to deal with in choosing a partner however, just see a picture and meet quite quickly.

So? Who says you have to stand there and watch that person?  It sounds like you're saying that this person doesn't have the right to take her clothes off like everyone else at the dungeon.  Maybe they should just stay home where they can't offend anyone.  In fact, let's just make them stay home all the time... shove 'em where they can't be seen like we used to do with the handicapped and senile.  And then, who gets to draw the line at what is offensive?  Heck, let's make it anyone over 250 lbs.  Nope, 200.  Hey, anybody who has to buy clothes at Lane Bryants (size 14 and up).  Heck, they won't take you in the military if you're 5 lbs over the "average" range, so let's go with that.  And what about the men who are overweight? 

It's going to get awful lonely in that dungeon.

Or am I reading negative connotations again where there weren't any?
