If you post something, would you kindly make it NOT an anecdotal event ? With all respect due to your personal experience, there's five million threads asking for it. This one would appreciate your abstract thinking instead.

Consequently, I choose to distinguish between real BDSM and pseudo BDSM.

*chuckles*  of course that would be only correct if your assumption of me having an aversion to abstract thought was accurate.

no such assumption was made, if you read carefully.

quote:

But, unfortunate for you, I am confident to sit at the table of abstract or practical.  I am just wise enough to appreciate that both are avenues are neccessary to have an improved appreciate of a given subject and don't foolishly limit myself.

quote:

On the other hand, you will never have enough experience that you may be allowed to discuss such vast topics on experience alone. Abstract has it's place, and that place is where we try to discuss things bigger than any single one of us. If you can conceive something like that.

we are glad to hear. may i presume you also keep a healthy diet, exercise regularly, found spiritual enlightement, saved the whales and yet mysteriously do not grasp the difference between posts and profiles ?

quote:

As a person that has much more practical experience in BDSM and D/s lifestyle than most, I can attest that no amount of practical experience is ever going to be enough and that abstract thought and the perspectives of others are indeed important keys to growing and gaining more experience with constructive and positive results.

again we are glad to hear. nothing easier than claiming IRL experience online. nothing more vapid, either.

Psuedo BDSM?  Difficult to say, but I could posit that it is when thinking of it only...to the exclusion of real performance...that there is an exercise in psuedo BDSM going on.  That there has to be a definite physical interaction that takes place.  This is MOO.

so then we agree.

Only if you agree with me that psuedo BDSM is that type of BDSM engaged in only as a mental exercise and never engaged in on a physical basis; otherwise I don't know...as stated, that is my opinion, as is the rest of my post.  Your OP didn't ask for agreement, simply for thoughts on the matter.  In all actuality, given what you said about anyone being able to untie themselves not really engaging in "real" BDSM but rather "staged" BDSM (your words) and my contention that nowadays, the "staged BDSM" (as you refer to it} is the type of BDSM that most engage in so as to avoid problems with our partners and with the law and perhaps, with our own moral codes.  Does that make it any less real than the BDSM practiced by the Marquis?  In my opinion, no.  Just different...evolved one might say to a point where the willingness of everyone's involvement is taken into account.

i was putting the accent on "interaction". with that part i agree :)

Caretakr -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 4:14:40 PM)

Deciodes there's nothing more to see here, high fives the little red hand, and moves on.

Zeno,
It is not my way to defend KoM, but you are so out of line it is rediculous. He is one of the few doms on here that I would be happy to shake hands with and meet his ladies. I don't always agree with him, but I certainly respect him. Suggestion to you, tuck your tail, sign off and don't come back til you know what you are talking about.

zenofeller -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 4:18:12 PM)

stop trolling, would you ?

txpet -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 5:20:14 PM)

Completely off the subject but in response to what i have seen int his thread ...
i would like to point out that even the most ignorant and rude posters have their place for it is the response to him that has brought out one of the things i like so much about coming here ...

The Dom/mes responses to one like that make me feel so, hmm ,protected ... it is ok, for me to be me here because there are those that won't step on me and those that won't let me be stepped on lightly ...

i know it might seem silly as none of the ones here really know me but, well, i still want to thank all of You for being ethical/moral/protective ::smile::

::BLUSH::

zenofeller -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 5:25:30 PM)

you're welcome hon.

txpet -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 5:36:56 PM)

::sigh::

The one i wasn't talking to ... of course you knew that though, didn't you? That was after all why my reply was to IronBear ... though the ords were meant for Him as well as MistressofGA, Caretkr, CreativeDominant, Knightof Mists, mnottertail and Others that i don't have names for handy.

Thank you for proving my point..... again

Nods... It appears that Manners and Civilty is still an abstract thought for him and has yet to master it's theory to be able to demonstrate it from a Practical perspective.

Talking to a longtime friend, she said she could never be interested in "the scene" because every single move seems fake and scripted, and she'd much rather have the genuine article.

I can relate to the sentiments. So often I tend to shy away from using "BDSM" as an all-inclusive phrase to describe my likes to those innocents who find the nagging proclivity to inquire. For, while the technical meaning contained within the acronym is so very appropriate, I feel that in general popular perception of it equates ultimately to a beast of entirely different stripes—of a tacit matrix of simulation serving merely as a vehicle for what ultimately correlates to staged thrill rides and darkly snazzy fashion shows.

You just described "the scene" to a t....which is why no one will ever see me at public events.

The shallow end of the pool ,is just not where I like to swim.[&:]

zenofeller -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 8:32:37 PM)

well, amysos, i can only gape in amazement as apparently, things stated by you, while the same as things stated by me, elicit an entirely different response altogether.

i guess that fact exposes certain elite minds. a well.

Caretakr -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 8:55:07 PM)

Yes, but we know what we are doing...and have done.

And can back that up with more than hyperbole.[;)]

mistoferin -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 8:55:36 PM)

This thread just got considerably shorter...and much nicer I think

justheather -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 8:58:11 PM)

Well, I clicked onto this thread to find out once and for all what "real" BDSM is, but....if Im gonna hafta read seven pages to find out, forget about it.
I just dont have that kind of time, ya know?

I guess I'll have to just keep practicing fake BDSM.

akisha -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 9:11:07 PM)

LOL i'm with heather

SusanofO -> RE: Real BDSM (6/29/2006 9:19:14 PM)

I someone says "why do you do that"?
You can just say: "If I tell you, then I have to kill you."
