From the Trust Your Govenment Files:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A secretive U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration unit is funneling information from intelligence intercepts, wiretaps, informants and a massive database of telephone records to authorities across the nation to help them launch criminal investigations of Americans ... The unit of the DEA that distributes the information is called the Special Operations Division, or SOD. Two dozen partner agencies comprise the unit, including the FBI, CIA, NSA, Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Homeland Security...

The undated documents show that federal agents are trained to "recreate" the investigative trail to effectively cover up where the information originated, a practice that some experts say violates a defendant's Constitutional right to a fair trial. If defendants don't know how an investigation began, they cannot know to ask to review potential sources of exculpatory evidence - information that could reveal entrapment, mistakes or biased witnesses.

A former federal agent in the northeastern United States who received such tips from SOD described the process. "You'd be told only, ‘Be at a certain truck stop at a certain time and look for a certain vehicle.' And so we'd alert the state police to find an excuse to stop that vehicle, and then have a drug dog search it," the agent said. After an arrest was made, agents then pretended that their investigation began with the traffic stop, not with the SOD tip, the former agent said. The training document reviewed by Reuters refers to this process as "parallel construction."

"That's outrageous," said Tampa attorney James Felman, a vice chairman of the criminal justice section of the American Bar Association. "It strikes me as indefensible." Lawrence Lustberg, a New Jersey defense lawyer, said any systematic government effort to conceal the circumstances under which cases begin "would not only be alarming but pretty blatantly unconstitutional."

Is there no end to this shit?

I really believe. Have commented here, blogs and many other places. This will be the end. If there is selective application of law: Secret Courts, Secret Budgets, Secret Interpretations of law/application of it - One law for them another law for us. Simply put there can be no law. But, many in congress are taking action. More CRCL groups on the planet, than ever before have active, pending and so far successful lawsuits than ever before. Potentially tens of thousands of FOIA documents have been filed. The USG/US IC has lied and we have demonstrable evidence of these lies and tangible proof. Considering everything we've known for the last 30 years - adding this to a pot. The amount of knowledge we have is tremendous. Whether you think Snowden is an evil fuck or hero is no difference. We now have this material and hundreds (I speculate thousands) of attorneys, experts, other CRCL types are taking more action than ever before.

This is why we fought a revolutionary war. Well, one of 2-3 reasons. Kings agents that did not respect personal rights, property rights or geographic boundaries and were held accountable to different standards of law. This is the greatest threat to our freedom according to every expert, EX IC whistle blower and attorney I am aware of. It will not end over night. The amount of information compared to the past is staggering. Find a group fighting this (There are plenty all over the planet) and donate money, time or "energy" to one. While bitching about it on Collarme and other places is good, I do it all the fucking time. Give a little something.

We might not have anything to hide. However, we do have everything to lose. But, more so than ever before there is a lot of things on our side which were not in the past.

which shit are you referring to? the endless variations of violations of your American (supposed) rights? or the endless stream of news coming out about it?

yeah.. Obama aint the great guy so many people think he is.. sorta strange.. cuz I coulda swore I heard him on tv complaining about how black people have their rights violated all the time.. & I dont dispute that black people are treated that way, I just think he needs to look in the mirror when it comes to who is violating peoples rights..

That is a very tough call.
I have children and would love for them not to be exposed to all the illegal drugs out there, if its gone ( hardy har har) completely I have no worries of them going down a path I escaped from, the things I did I am very lucky to be alive. One less concern as a parent. One less concern of a high individual doing something they normally wouldn't do, destroying their life, and others llif es because of availability of these things. If they aren't there, they are not misused or missed.
On the other hand, these kind of liberties given are often times given to people who can take that info, take revenge for their own purposes, and destroy someone out of agendas of deleting them from taking a stand against them. Some people will do anything to win or hold a position.
What we chose to do in our own homes, as private individuals, without harm to others, is nobodies business. So it does get concerning when this kind of invasion is taking place, depends on the agenda, and who is invading. Is it for the good or is it for the dirt. You are going to get both kind of people.

Did you vote for him (Obama)? Are you even in the USA? It is so strange to me. In 2008, I did vote for him. I voted for him to stop all of the things which have expanded under this administration. What is the most fascinating to me. I can remember protesting with fellow democrats at the RNCs or other "BushConventions" 2001 - 2006. We protested Bush for the same things Obama is doing. Yet, where have all my democratic friends gone? It is a fascinating partisan shuffle. I really can not explain it. Other than? They were never against any of the things I thought they were. They were just against "The Other" ?

We have tangible evidence, leaked/stolen documents, court rulings, FOIA, ex generals, ex-IC every living whistle blower on the planet. Experts attorneys and the list goes on. This is for the dirt. It is a well established fact. The only individuals at this point in time who are supporting it are ones with ties to the military, contractors or IC themselves. Some politicians who have knowing lied about it already, for good reason they must continue to lie - no one wants to get caught. In some smaller cases people who have friends/family in such positions support it.

There really is no intelligent discussion any of this is being done to help us - especially combat drugs LOL

I have no ties to the military, other then knowing a few good men who fought. If finding a huge shipment of drugs that were discussed over the telephone is stopped by the government that were to be distributed for kids, criminals, etc is stopped in this way I think its a great thing. It is no secret we hear more of the bad things in life, because people thrive on drama. A lot of good things are done in secret, but you don't hear about those as often, because there is nothing to complain about. If a terrorist attack is stopped by this process, thank your lucky stars for that. Its possible it could be directed at your block or someone you loves backyard.

I have nothing to hide, so I am less concerned over it. Considering your signature "Lets do something criminal" You might have more to worry about. LOL. Just kidding with ya.

Sadly, that's probably the greatest truth there is in US politics anymore.

Candidate Obama (circa 2008) said he was going to change politics in Washington. He did. He changed them from the R's spending, spending, spending, to the D's spending, spending, spending.

The party not in power is against most of the stuff the party in power is for, until they become the party in power. At that point, the roles reverse.

Of course you can, just click that little hide button at the bottom of the post. I am sure no one will be offended. What you can't do is hurl random insults at them. That will get your posts pulled and if it happens enough, get you moderated.

I was wondering how long it would be before a repub was back in the oval office and I think running her might just do it.

Actually in terms of being harassed- pain patients- that is- the govt is more accommodating when a GOP is president. In all my years- treatment for pain,etc- has gone better then the GOP is in the oval office.

Yes, this is something that I realized back in the 1980s. I was influenced greatly during my formative years by the political protests and cultural shifts taking place in the late 1960s and 70s - and even felt somewhat optimistic and hopeful about the future. But as I reached adulthood in the 1980s (during the Reagan era), I began to become more and more frustrated with the Democrats, even though I still supported the party. The spirit of protest and political activism that characterized the 1960s seemed to fall by the wayside during the materialistic and hedonistic 80s, with heavier drug use which brought about Reagan's escalation of the "war on drugs."

I have nothing to hide either, although by the same token, I'm not really gripped by fears of terrorism or the "scourge" of drugs. I agree that these may be legitimate concerns from a societal level, but as a citizen, I think there might be better and more efficient ways of going about it.

I think about it this way. I'm not a threat. I'm not a terrorist. I'm not a drug dealer or a smuggler. I have no criminal record, and even my driving record is spotless over the past five years. So, any government agency or police official would be absolutely wasting their time and the taxpayers' money by taking even the slightest interest in me or what I do. If they're wasting their time with little ol' me, then that means that someone they should be watching might slip through the net.

It is unlikely you would pop up in the metadata then. The staff of analysts is so limited you would hardly get a glance. The net you refer to lacks the efficency so many credit in their fears.

but what of the future as computers, data, internet continue to become more and more efficient???

and what if the party in power wants the nsa to determine which citizens are for the D or R party & uses that info to prod certain citizens to vote for them (Obama already has used texting/emailing to do this) or even worse, to find ways to harass or restrict those vocal citizens against their party, similar to what the IRS has done by refusing to approve 501 status for as long as 3+ years.. that could take various forms such as non-approval/cancellation of business licenses, to freezing bank accounts, etc etc.. And while some people will pooh-pooh the idea of that ever happening or going that far.. the govt continues to unpleasantly surprise us, dont they? Like they say "never say never"..
