You're telling me a whole lot about yourself. What is (or isn't, for that matter) going on in your life that you feel so personally impacted by another thread that you need to expend this much energy throwing stones at someone?

ETA: This whole thread doesn't strike me as being motivated by a desire to provide constructive criticism. It seems like one of the cool, socially confident kids having some mean fun at the expense of one of the less cool, less socially confident kids.

Mine makes his own beer, so I suppose dinner will have to do. But since he hates tequila and while strolling through the liquor department looking for whine when I spotted the tequila section and the song Jose Cuervo popped into my head and I could not help but sing it, I guess that makes me fall short huh. The glare he gave me was hilarious though. He really hates tequila, the very thought of ever drinking it again makes him feel ill.

If I thought the OP of the other thread were really "one of the less cool, less socially confident kids" I would deeply regret my comments. Either way, I don't think they merit "applause".

But I believe she's either a troll or a sociopath, and I think it's extremely misguided to keep feeding her the attention she craves.
This is the internet. You can't help her, even if you wanted to. Even if by some slim chance she's actually telling the truth.

Tell her to go seek professional help. It's all you can do. Then... stop paying her attention. Anything else in simply enabling.

I understand that that poster seemed hesitant to take the advice of strangers from the internet, but I don't think that's all that stupid. Obviously not the best course of action in her particular case, but understandable.

Yes, unless we can deliberately steer it in another direction, such as this:

We all laugh at this idea of what a "good submissive" is. But where do these ideas come from? The media? 50 shades of grey? People's own imaginations? Why do many newbies equate "submission" with lack of self respect, and "dominance" with unprincipaled bullying? If we disagree, do we have the right to try to convince them otherwise, or is this a YKINMK issue? Very few people on the other thread defended the OP's right to consent to what most labeled as "abuse". Ought they to have?

Except it's not just her reading the thread. Someone who might actually gain something from that advice could be reading. Not everyone who reads, posts.

And actually, absent of moving away from family to him, she's telling a story that parallels my own in many ways, from a life time ago. There were a lot of things said to me back then that I didn't like, but that planted little seeds which grew along the way. People in bad places resist help but they don't forget the words offered to them. Nobody does a complete 180 change over night. That shit takes years, trust me.

You have all the prerogative in the world to start this thread. Other folks have the prerogative to respond to the other thread.

I actually find this thread humorous but not in the mocking way you intended toward the other OP. Where I find the humor is that many submissives have actually been TOLD this shit along the way, from people who believe it's true. And yanno, there was a time (during that life time ago) when I actually believed some of it.

If they believe in that right, then sure they should talk about the OP's right to consent to abuse. If they don't believe in that right, why would they defend it?

I believe most folks who get abused ARE consenting to it....for some very, very unhealthy reasons. At least that's why I did. Doesn't make it ok, though. It makes it a very hard lesson learned (hopefully).
