Tolerance of Islam in Toronto

Status: offline 		Evidently there is some local resistance to another Mosque being built in Toronto. There has been some talk in the Muslim community that there is need for the general populace to be more tolerant.

JJiggs McDonald, NHL Hall of Fame broadcaster speaking in Ontario agrees but thinks there should be tolerance on both sides of the issue and posted the below for our consideration.



"I am truly perplexed that so many of my friends are against another
mosque being built in Toronto. I think it should be the goal of every
Canadian to be tolerant, regardless of their religious beliefs. Thus the
mosque should be allowed, in an effort to promote tolerance.

That is why I also propose that two nightclubs be opened next door to
the mosque thereby promoting tolerance from within the mosque. We could
call one of the clubs, which would be gay, "The Turban Cowboy," and the
other a topless bar called "You Mecca Me Hot."

Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork, and
adjacent to that an open-pit barbecue pork restaurant, called "Iraq o'
Ribs."

Across the street there could be a lingerie store called "Victoria Keeps
Nothing Secret," with sexy mannequins in the window modeling the goods.

Next door to the lingerie shop there would be room for an adult sex toy
shop, "Koranal Knowledge," its name in flashing neon lights, and on the
other side a liquor store called "Morehammered."

All of this would encourage Muslims to demonstrate the tolerance they
demand of us, so their mosque issue would not be a problem for others."

Yes we should promote tolerance, and you can do your part.....by passing
this on. “

Not sure that's true. Also, as i understood it, the jokes in the OP weren't making fun of Moslems so much as making fun of the idea that allowing them to build a Mosque requires some great amount of tolerance on the part of everyone else.

I thought that part was funny, but the other two jokes struck me as being in poor taste.

Actually, the OP puts it this way:

Thus, there is local (non-Muslim) resistance to a new mosque. The local Muslim community is calling for the non-Muslim resistance to show tolerance. So, apparently, there is a requirement for a "great amount of tolerance on the part of everyone else."

I see your point, and would love to see there be less resistance to any new house of worship that rests mostly on the religion to be practiced therein.

Psstt... Toronto isn't under the jurisdiction of the US Constitution either...

Status: offline 		I dont know about the event you are posting about & how it all went over but there was a sitcom produced in Canada, shown on Canadian tv for 5 years called "Little Mosque on the Prairie", created by Zarqa Nawaz.. I have never watched it myself but seen the ads (its on Hulu Plus).. Some of ya'll might get the idea that Canadians have a strange sense of humour..

Status: offline 		Very amusing post OP. The problem with Muslims is they expect everyone to show tolerance but they don't show any themselves. Does anyone remember how Muslims reacted to the video that called their prophet a pedophile for marrying a young child? They started violent riots. People were slaughtered. Other religions get insulted all the time and the people of those faiths don't react that way. How many Christians start riots and slaughter people when someone says Jesus was a zombie? I don't blame people in Toronto for complaining. If Christians of today acted like psychos like they did hundreds of years ago, I'd say the same about them.

Yea yet another reason our tv series are jokes. FRT , NO ONE watches Canadian tv shows here. According to the law 40% of the programs (both TV and radio) must be Canadian hence Canadian TV shows never get cancelled and radio stations torture us with Nickelback
