The bottom line is, if it were a white male at the helm there would be no complaints. Call it what it is. Racists who cannot stand to see a black man in office. A diseased mindset.

Please explain to me how Obama reined in Wall street and preserved Social Security. Obama is worse then Bush ever was- Obama is told what to do by Goldman Sachs. The banks have stole our jobs, our house, our savings and our retirement- but the left sees this as ok- since the president is a minority. Theft is still theft- when you discover the Social Security is cut via chained colas you will see that Obama has taken food off of your table. People who cover for obama when his policies are troublesome are baffling.

I was chastised by a black man who heard me criticizing a government policy.
He said I wouldn't be having the conversation if we didn't have a blank president.
I was talking about a policy put in during the Clinton administration that costs me about 300 a month from my retirement pay. Just like some of these folks he was making race based assumptions founded on his prejudices. Previous presidents have been ridiculed just as harshly and it was written off as bad taste. Lighten up.

Oh please!! Do not lump Me in with the one who spoke to you. Unlike him I am well aware of the politics of the US and have been BEFORE Obama came into office. Perhaps he was not but I assure you I am not speaking just because our president is black. What I speak on is the sudden outrage of government policies in full force because he is black. Were was this outrage of the patriot act,etc when Bush and Cheney was at the helm? The mice were quiet in the church because the one's who were telling them what was best for them and butt fuckin them at the same time were white. Stole their homes, jobs, and savings right from underneath them. Robbed the treasury with the first bailout unaccounted for before leaving office. That president was white. By the time the sheeple got around to realizing they have been fucked over, the man that stepped in was black and took the brunt of the anger when the sheep wiped the sleep from their fuckin eyes! Then it became lets pit the poor and middle class against one another by using their deep seeded racist mind sets to do it. It's the black man's fault. An old classic.

NO previous president has been ridiculed and criticized more than the one we have now. It's not about any fucking lightening up!! It's about seeing things for what they are and as long as you continue to refuse to. the more the foot will continue to be on your neck. The more you will be a Political pawn and a sheep!!

So don't talk to Me like I don't know what time it is. I saw the corporations taking over government and those in Congress who are suppose to work for the people 20 years ago ( a reason I made a conscious decision to only have one child. Saw what was coming) The citizens of this country was warned that we would be were we are NOW 20 years ago!! The sheep weren't listening. To busy grazing, lazing, getting fat, and swallowing prescription medications!!

Instead of poking one another with sticks in regard to differences of appearance, lifestyles, and opinions ask yourselves how are you going to weed out the poison in Congress that sold the government to the highest bidders and it doesn't start with Obama. He is only doing what his handlers tell him to do. We have a president that was BEGGING you sheeple to take control back but your ears were and are blocked because ALL you can see is the color of his skin and if you deny it you are filthy liars. He BEGGED you to stand up and do something and vote those out who sold your country but you are too busy listening to your inner racism. Things will only get worse until you deprogram your thinking and see clearly what is going on around you. Everything is being taken from you, us. The right to do what you want as a woman with your own bodies, etc. What next? But here you are bickering and debating over stupid shit!!

And NO, civil unrest is not the answer. That will only get you a dirt nap.

Bunch of bickering fools!!

Whatever the problem he thinks that more government is the answer.
I never said I approved everything Bush did, either. I don't like big government. Therefore I oppose much of what Obama does. Before you say it I opposed Bush's moves toward big government as well.
But when you can't be anything but a cheerleader for the president without being labeled a racist there is no chance for discussion, no hope for compromise, no possibility of progress.
True there are those on the right who are just as bad.
That doesn't justify anything.
The fact remains that previous presidents have faced as much or more ridicule as Obama.
Vote Republican and black churches will be burned down?
Jerry Ford played too much football without a helmet?
Reagan wants to breath polluted air?
It is that when your side does it, it doesn't seem so bad. (which ever side you are on).
How about we can't let the white boys win, is that racist enough for you?

My side? I do not have a side. Why are you even on "a side" in the first place?!! I do not subscribe to political labels. I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. Big government? I see you have taken a big gulp of the kool aide.

That is the problem here. White male fear! We can't let the white boys win? Let the white boys win what? What the hell is that all about? It's a bunch of crazy talk.

That is racist. When it comes to obama- they banned the wrong clown for life.

Gee, there were people running around in St Ronnie masks during his administration, same with bush one, clinton, bush two, and now Obama wants to get bent about a rodeo clown?

Sensitive are we?

NO previous president has been ridiculed and criticized more than the one we have now/snip

Some of the left do not see it that way. They view the clown incident to be racist, and offensive- so much so- the man is banned for life.

By side I mean those you agree with, surely there is someone you agree with.
e can't let the white boys win was a statement made by Gore's campaign chief of staff in 2000 so it isn't crazy talk it is fact.
Name one thing Obama has done that put power back into the hands of individuals.
Every "solution" he comes up with means more government more regulation and more control.

We must ALL be outraged dontcha know...sorry whats the word?"freaking"?

This topic is a poor shadow of that clusterfuck

We are supposed to react the way the politicians are reacting... or the way the media is reacting... hmmm.. sounds a bit like Faux News goose-stepping to me.

Put it this way, when gays are compared to pedophile or people having sex with animals simply because they are gay, when you hear the rantings of preachers saying gays should be put in concentration camps, you don't think that is someone with an uncontrollable fear of gays?

In a word, no. Hateful stereotypes and prejudices are not "phobias". They're hateful stereotypes and prejudices. But let's avoid a major hijack. The same objection applies to other terms, "Islamophobia" being a prime example, and since the Wiki page for that entry lays out the criticism in detail, I'll just post the link to it for your consideration.

And nobody pushed for federal charges against them (NAACP is in this case).

This is a redneck hillbilly part of the state...They are prejudiced...everywhere you go in this part of the sate you will see Confederate flags hanging from the porches. That said be black or white they are friendly gracious people all and all. They just want their way of life to continue and feel the Obama administration is doing its best to take it away.

All the above said... This is a free speech country, and in that part of the state what was said and how it was said it is not offensive. It was distasteful and the clown and announcer should have known that this was a state wide audience. At the most they should have been disciplined and or fired from the fair... But it is ridiculous to band the clown from ever working at the state fair again. That is taking the food from his families mouths for using his Constitutional right of free speech.

Now Obama did not demand he be banned this was the states idea...I don't care who made the discussion it is wrong.

Butch

This is pretty much how I see it. I'm not familiar with this area
in Missouri but I know places like it. These aren't worldly people.
They live very cloistered lives. I hesitate to attribute outright
malice to what is probably more readily explained by ignorance.
A lot of these people are likely basically decent people who have
little or no conscience awareness of their bigotry or where it stems
from.

I think it is extreme for the clown to be banned for life.
But this man is accountable for the things he said and
did on a public stage at a taxpayer supporter event that
is open to the public. I don't think that the wearing of the
mask itself that is the root of the controversy. I think his
actions such as the playing with with his lips which to me
a person who grew up in the Deep South very much has
connotations of racial stereotyping and conjures up cretinous
rednecks being very vile. The stick up the rectum while perhaps
not explicitly racist is IMO inappropriate for a event that should
be family friendly. It's difficult for me to see why there are white
people who can't understand why this performance could have
made black people witnessing it uncomfortable or why it would
be painful for them to watch or that they might be offended by it.
I think some people need to ask Santa to bring them some empathy
for Christmas this year.

I'm not interested in going to a state fair for political humor of any kind.
I'd go to a fair to eat a variety of fried foods on sticks and ride twirly
swirly rides. State fairs should be places that the public can go to with
the reasonable expectation that they can bring their children and enjoy
themselves in a relatively safe environment. Even though I'm very much
left of center I would not have been interested or amused by the Bush
scenario either. I wouldn't have wanted my nephews to have seen this
performance. They're little boys they have the rest of their lives to be
cynical about politicians. And again the stick up the ass thing isn't
appropriate for children.

No president is off limits to mockery. But mocking the president should
not be used as an excuse to put on a minstrel show or indulge in racist
jokes. I think it's very disingenuous for people with any self awareness
or historical knowledge to not see how easily things can tip in that direction.

The clown was out there as a dummy (like a mannequin). The idea was that the dummy was even scared of the bull. The "stick up the rectum" is a common prop, literally and figuratively. The stick is what is propping up the dummy. The bull comes at it, and the dummy comes alive and runs like Hell. That was the schtick.

Can you show how this clown's actions were out of line?

cloudboy -> RE: Freaking out over a clown??? (8/19/2013 1:12:06 PM)

This is like asking what's wrong with a white guy using the N-word. It's astounding you just don't don't immediately see what's wrong here.

Winterapple -> RE: Freaking out over a clown??? (8/19/2013 1:12:18 PM)

Does the name Abner Louima mean anything to you?

As I said in my post if he was playing with the lips of the
mask that evokes racist imagery to me. I don't equate him
wearing the mask with blackface but an action like that puts
things in choppier waters. How deliberate he was in his actions
I don't know. Then add things like saying "Yahoo! We're gonna
smoke Obama! which again might not be explicitly racist but
has a cumulative effect. My personal reaction is that it was at
the very least in terribly bad taste.

My general view of rodeo clowns is that they are in bad taste
enough(and lame enough) without bringing Stepin Fetchit
imagery into their acts.

I think any rodeo clown I've ever seen gave off a vibe of
rancor mixed with self loathing. Perhaps that's why Glenn
Beck metaphorically identifies as one.

But I can't say that I think this man should be banned forever from
performing from state fairs.

The very purpose of a clown is to amuse and entertain. Not inspire public policy. Obama is in the public eye.

He should step down. He does not have thick skin, his finger should not be on the nuke button- he is too easily offended.
