Discussing the psychological personality profiles of bdsm is a valuable topic I think. It can be interesting to use Myers Briggs but professional psychologists stopped using this about 20 years ago and a lot of flaws have been brought up. It is not considered valid. Most IO Psychologists will laugh if you bring this up. The reason that it is still used a lot is because it takes industry a lot of time to catch up with psychology. It is as if management is 30 years behind the psychology journals. The cornerstone to personality testing is OCEAN. This system is used on O*Net http://www.onetonline.org/ . Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness and Extroversion. Another test is the PF16. Ocean and PF16 are the two dominant tests out there used by IO psychologist. Abnormal or Clinical Psychologists use the DSM IV (V). However, this is not really applicable to everyday people because it is used to assess things such as schizophrenia, autism and depression. But it is still useful and interesting. Maybe significantly applicable to bdsm because bdsm would be considered abnormal psychology. DSM IV on masochism :) : "Sexually masochistic behaviors are typically evident by early adulthood, and often start with masochistic or sadistic play in childhood. The disorder is characterized by either intense sexually arousing fantasies, urges, or behaviors in which the individual is humiliated, beaten, bound, or made to suffer in some way." You can find the DSM online for free here: http://allpsych.com/disorders/dsm.html That could be a thread for another time. What mental disorders do you cum from?
