I tell every woman that she looks like she's in her early 20s.

littlewonder -> RE: How old are you really? (8/27/2013 7:00:29 PM)

Oh I get this from women, men, children, doctors, co-workers, etc.....they always get confused when we're talking about our children and I start telling them about my daughter and her boyfriend and how they are looking to buy a home next year, etc...

Then someone finally asks....how old is your daughter??? How old are you???

And then when Master and I go out somewhere where an ID is needed to get in, they never, ever ID him but they always ID me even though we're only 5 years apart. He just laughs and keeps on walking, laughing at me and then tries to get people to think I'm his daughter. hrmph. [>:]

somebody's age is pretty much written all over them.

7 years ago was the last time I was routinely carded for looking too young.
I was 44 then.

When I was in my mid-thirties, I was always carded and my valid ID was often met with skepticism.

sexyred1 -> RE: How old are you really? (8/27/2013 8:12:11 PM)

I am not upset about age or height as much as I am by men lying about bring married or attached.

Kinda makes you wonder if submission has some sort of anti-aging qualities. (Tongue in cheek.)

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: How old are you really? (8/27/2013 9:16:31 PM)

Actually, it's none of anyone's business how old I am unless I *FEEL* like telling them. Yes, I LIE about My age. Not for the reasons other people are lying though. Traditionally, on not all but MOST websites I've been a member of, since Myspace started all the online drama for Me back in 2006, I've usually listed Myself as "87". What the hell, why not do it? If it pisses some people off to NOT KNOW, then all the better...I hope they lose sleep over it. If I can weed out some assholes that way it makes things easier for Me. *grins*

I'm not on these websites to DATE, but to NETWORK and SOCIALIZE. I also don't usually post My photo for that very reason. I don't need males stopping to gawk at a photo of Me, getting all distracted when they should be READING and deciding if I'm someone (mentally, charismatically) they'd like to submit to, to form a D/s situation with. Do you choose your FRIENDS, DOCTOR, TEACHER, PASTOR, THERAPIST, MECHANIC, ETC., based on what they LOOK LIKE? If I'm a 600 pound thinning-haired wrinkly old hag with a hairy chin, liver spots, missing teeth, crooked knuckles, and a gimpy leg, would you NOT associate with Me? (I probably just triggered someone's fetish there...add a cane I can use to WHACK them to make it complete)

Does One need to portray One's self as a young Hollywood beauty in order to attract a Service-minded submissive (or a Dominant), or to make friends? The answer is NO, and I've got submissives already happily Serving Me and a waiting list of additional ones to prove it. I don't need to show a photo, I don't need to promise them romance or even an orgasm, and I certainly don't need to pretend I'm 27 and a 36-28-36 to get what I want. I see some people on here and other sites portraying themselves as younger, baring it all to the camera, touching up photos in an effort to try to attract subs or Dominants, and it kind of sickens Me that they feel the need to give up their dignity and lie about themselves for the possibility of making their search more successful. If it works for what they are seeking, so be it, but it seems a high personal price to pay (integrity for one thing) just to find a match.

Who knows, maybe for a LAUGH someday I'll get Myself airbrushed to look like I'm 20-something and go full-frontal-nudity...

Yeah, right.

chatterbox24 -> RE: How old are you really? (8/28/2013 3:52:49 AM)

I used to lie about my age when I was 19, to get into bars. I used my sisters Id who was 8 yrs older then me. I would get the look but they let me pass anyway. LOL.
But as far as just people I don't recall lying about my age. When I was young, I looked older, and now that Im older I look a bit younger. OR SO I THINK! [:D]
When people lie about their age it makes me laugh, especially older ladies. I can be a bit vain, so I can see me later doing it too.[:D] I swear I am 70, not 80!!!

MasterCaneman -> RE: How old are you really? (8/28/2013 5:21:56 AM)

I guess I fall into the "I don't care if anyone knows how old/tall/heavy I am" camp. 47, 250, 6". Exactly as advertised, plus or minus a couple pounds because I don't have a scale.

My mom always laughed and would say if you're going to lie about your age, tell people you are OLDER so they reply with, "Wow you look GREAT!!!" Haha.

She has always looked so much younger than her age. People would often think she was my dads daughter, and one of our sisters. It drove my oldest sister crazy because her boyfriends would always crush on my mom. I hope I age like that.

How fortunate for you, since you have the genes for it! Oh how jealous we all shall be of your beauty when we are all wrinkled skins. [:D]

NuevaVida -> RE: How old are you really? (8/28/2013 8:24:47 AM)

LOL!! Well we shall see. My sisters haven't aged as gracefully as our mom, but my brothers look amazing. So it's a coin toss for me (or maybe I already look old and don't realize it!)

littlewonder -> RE: How old are you really? (8/28/2013 6:28:36 PM)

I have a sister who is 48 but she's been 29 for about the past 10 years. [:D]

SWDesertDom -> RE: How old are you really? (8/28/2013 8:33:32 PM)

I really am 36, though nobody seems to care about that.

I really am 5'4" (actually 5'3.75") and all the heightists seem to care about that.

I guess I'll just go sulk with HillWilliam and his giant cock...

slavekate80 -> RE: How old are you really? (8/29/2013 10:19:13 AM)

(fast reply) Trust is important in any long-term relationship, especially when I'm voluntarily giving over a lot of power over my life, and it's more difficult for me to trust someone when he's lied to me. There's a difference between an intentionally deceptive lie and other forms of inaccuracy, like accidental oversight (forgetting to update profile details), hiding or very slightly altering details for safety and privacy reasons, and small rounding errors. Those are usually explainable and no big deal.

If you can't even be trusted to tell me how old you are, or at least make it clear that the listed number is wrong and the real one is not for me to know, it's going to be harder for me to trust you with my money and safety later. In a short-term relationship it might not matter as much, and if that's what I was looking for I would care less. And on my side, I figure that for every Master who would find me too old for his liking, there's another one that would find me too young if I lied and subtracted some years, so all a lie is going to do is attract more people I'm wrong for, and fewer for whom I might be an excellent match. For an LTR, I don't see any upside.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: How old are you really? (8/29/2013 11:17:52 AM)

~FR~

On the reverse, my girl lied about her age when we first met. She was 22 and said she was 25. This is after I told a mutual friend that my min age to be serious about relationship was 25. That was 7 years ago and we have been awesome for the last 5. No issues with trust. She admitted to it and why. When it is age I think a few years is no biggie and as some get older they have issues with it. I just turned 48 and my girl is 29 (soon to be 30).

lovethyself -> RE: How old are you really? (8/29/2013 1:04:32 PM)

I understand unintentionally lying about something as simple as height. I call myself 5'11" depending on who I'm standing beside. I honestly don't remember the last time I actually measured it, and I could say the same of most people I know. I'll stand heel to heel with one person that says they are 6', and be the same or a little taller, and someone else that claims they are 5'10" and be shorter than them.

Hell, my dad's been 6'4" for decades, and still uses that measurement. A couple of years ago we noticed he didn't measure up to his former mark on the door frame (my old bedroom door frame still has all of our height notches from growing up). He's actually 6'3" now. But, after over 40 years of knowing he is 6'4", I don't see him correcting himself any time soon. It's just too much of an ingrained habit.

So I'm a little more forgiving of *slight* discrepancies in things like height and weight. Age is different, and would bug me to find out they lied. I don't see anything other than not updating it due to not knowing as being a valid reason for lying about it. It comes out in the end, and makes me start questioning what else I *know* about you that is built on missinformation. How can I trust the foundation we're building if we're not working from the same drawing?

hejira92 -> RE: How old are you really? (8/29/2013 3:13:29 PM)

My profile picture is a year old (FetCon 2012). I've been accused of using old pictures or lying about my age. On Monday, I'll be 50. Many here have met me in real life- this is what I look like.

When I was dating, I got lied to all the time- age, height, Dom vs. Top, etc. One of the things that made Sir stand out was that He was honest about His age, height, weight, education level and income. His confidence is from within and He has nothing to prove to anyone.

And this is exactly why I favor a more flexible view on "honor" and "lying" and related topics than is commonly talked about in online BDSM. In my experience at least, reality does not exist in absolutes. That's the realm of mathematics. Man, that's a pretty crappy way to start out a relationship but all worked out well.

edited to add
I write 6' because it's easy to write. But at least one doctor has measured me at 5-11.5.
My age was correct when I created the profile but it's gotta be a few years out of date now. If I were actively seeking I'd keep it within a year or two (if I remembered LOL). But in my age bracket, a year or two isn't anything of interest.
