Still nowhere near perfect, but it frees the father from having to pay child support for 18+ years for someone else's decision, while not leaving the mother suddenly cut off from financial support she was expecting to have. A mother who decides after birth that she doesn't want her child can put the child up for adoption and have no further responsibility towards him/her after the adoption is complete. She also loses custody rights, obviously. Why can't the father be allowed similar freedom? If we're discussing already-born children, the "it's her body" argument no longer applies.
