A despicable attack on ordinary people doing their jobs. Its all over the UK news media at present.

No easy solutions either Lucy, just as in Woolwich. My first instinct would be that it is terrorist related, the problem is how do you make anywhere 100% safe. More so if its an inside job like the Fort Hood.

My thoughts are with those unfortunate enough to be involved.

No reason has been given yet. One shooter has been killed. Two other suspects were being followed, but one has been identified and is not a suspect.

It's a tragedy.

I'm interested in what they find out about the shooter.

No motive so far but sounds like it was a "going Postal" type of thing, to me.. that's been my impression at any rate.. not sure about the other 2 they are looking for, they probably don't have any connection to it.. I guess anyone not shot or shot at could be a suspect..

"Law enforcement officials identified the gunman to NBC News as Aaron Alexis, 34, originally of Fort Worth, Texas. They said he recently began working as a civilian contractor."

hmmm.. mine was it was a going Postal thing, like he had some personal grudge or problem with someone/some people in that particular facility..

Politesub53 -> RE: US Navy Shootings. (9/16/2013 12:20:06 PM)

You can guarantee if there was more than one person involved, it was terror related. All the news stations I have been watching say they are looking for more than one person, although that may well just due to the initial confusion.

Part of my reasoning is the target, the date, and Al Zawaharis speech at the weekend, its possible that you are right and i am not though.

tj444 -> RE: US Navy Shootings. (9/16/2013 12:35:49 PM)

they have already discounted one of the two as not a suspect..

joether -> RE: US Navy Shootings. (9/16/2013 2:08:43 PM)

Let the facts come out before making an opinion. Better to understand the who, the how, the why than to make things up based on no evidence.

It's not as much fun, though.

True. Even though there were bullet wounds, it's not even been established that guns were involved yet.

In the film Eleanor and Franklin, there's a moment when the Roosevelts are alone and Mrs. R.
tells the President about a hate-filled letter she received that day.
FDR responds with words that have been in my head and heart all this long day:

What a world.

My thoughts and prayers and warmest sympathies are with all my neighbors tonight.

This got locked in one page? Is that some sort of record?

Anyway back to the point, the tin foil hat crowd has struck with this:

Washington Shipyard shooting a false flag operation

I sure hope that isn't even close to being true. Damn.

jlf1961 -> RE: US Navy Shootings. (9/16/2013 6:43:22 PM)

I would not believe this crap, but here is another saying the same thing Navy Yard Shooting Conspiracy Theory: Alex Jones Calls Incident False Flag Attack

littlewonder -> RE: US Navy Shootings. (9/16/2013 7:19:06 PM)

He was a former navy contractor. Anyone who knows this area knows many of the contractors are being laid off by the government due to cutbacks. I'm betting a hundred bucks that his "former" hasn't been that long ago and he was a pissed off employee.
