mnottertail -> RE: Re: An update on posting style (9/25/2013 2:37:10 PM)

so we snore thru the 'and via gold mail' clause then? Can you pedantically (albeit incorrectly) waltz me thru the English Language Mechanizations involved in that dangling pluperfect participle then?

VideoAdminGamma -> RE: Re: An update on posting style (9/25/2013 3:23:49 PM)

Actually all ideas presented will be discussed among staff. I for one never turn down suggestions.

There will likely be more un-moderated topics coming as Chi said.

Thank you for being a part of CollarMe,

A lot of time is taken...

Well if time is such an issue, then one obvious solution is less moderation, not more. Things seem to have a way of taking care of themselves when left alone to do so. Some trolls are ignored, others are fed a diet that causes them to bloat and explode. People who engage in thread-jacking shitfests end up facing the displeasure of their peers, and most actors quit the stage when the audience starts throwing vegetables.

Plus, everyone gets to see the posters' true colors. Cleaning up threads amounts to running a laundry service for the resumes of jerks. It seemed to me that our unmoderated Zimmerman thread was better overall than most of the moderated ones. Perhaps people tend to be a bit more circumspect when they know that giving in to their dark side will provoke an unpleasant response without the option of calling a Forum Nanny.

Probably not an option, given the prevailing philosophy. But the world did not end, and everyone survived.

K.

But it is not. It is about posting styles...

Did you READ the fucking OP?

CAN you read the fucking OP?

The OP said in part. "Sorry if we are burning you out, Chi, but banning personal pronouns isn't going to fix anything"
This makes it about moderation practices. if you cannot reconcile that with the title, then I suggest you take it up with the OP and how he titles threads.

Those of you who persist in making other posters the topic despite a plethora of advisories to not do so, both on threads and via gold mail, are severely trying my patience. You have been warned.

Hint - use of "you" and "your" starts to turn the topic to other posters.

Did I somehow miss talking about both posting styles and moderation? Why, I believe I did discuss both, so a little more calm in replying is in order and to calm oneself I suggest learning the proper use of a medium flogger on a small submissive, it will release that anger in a more productive manner and she will like it and it will do wonders in correcting a generally poor posting style, one you will find listed in my earlier post.

Translation. "I either did not or could not read the OP of this thread before commenting so I will now try to bluster my way through this mess."

Thank you.

She's either folding laundry, or doing her reading for class, with some ridiculous Netflix thing for background noise. [:D]

We better be careful about interacting. They'll lock the thread on us and send Gold letters.

You might be right.... Oh shit. I said, "you," didn't I??? We're fucked for sure.

He was commenting on a post I made here, over there in the refugees forum (we are old buds) regarding a poster who we all knew and who was running his mouth over there, and who was prolific ticketeer while instigating and doing the very thing he accused others of, and Domi was giving him the used acid to drink over it, and a moderator who was perusing that forum, (nobody on this thread to date) took his macabre bit of sticking it as a truism, flew off the handle (not actually reading the sentence) and moderated me. He was moderated about a week later for something else. Then I guess what Gamma said happened subsequently either during or after his moderation. And here we sit.

Probably not an option, given the prevailing philosophy. But the world did not end, and everyone survived.

Forum Nanny says it all. After awhile I hesitate to research and post something for fear it will disappear down the locked thread rabbit hole. Additionally, bringing out the golden edged sword against posters for using personal pronouns is just absurd. Seems to me we have lost a number of dynamic posters due to over-moderation. Especially on the Religious side of P&R. Gotten so we can't challenge others here without walking on eggshells. Although I don't really understand the system I suspect much of the problem lies in allowing free reign of complaints. Maybe it should be like the NFL. Allow each poster to toss the red flag onto the field only three times per month, or whatever.

Maybe give a person 3 flags/month and take them away each time they make a report that isn't really a violation? That way, you can't have 3 people attack someone and then the rest of the month is a free for all on that person.

If we don't use our flags at all, can we sell em like Carbon Points?
