No tizzy. I'm concerned that OBAMACARE is adding to the ranks of the uninsured.
And its pretty much a given that there will be MORE uninsured 1 year from now than there is now.

Neither of which are proven. And definitely not the truth in my case. I waited 5 months to see a surgeon for my ankle. 5 months JUST for the initial appointment, made by my PCP, of which payment was never in question.

Wait times? We already got em. You want to complain about wait times? Really? I can call monday morning and be seen monday after for a sick call. If I am not sick, I dont need same day service, now do I? Think that might actually get Congress off their asses to open up the enrollments for residency programs?

Hmmm... gee.

Don't put words in my mouth.
Just because it isn't true for you (congrats) doesn't mean it isn't true on average.

And your post has no factual rebuttal for the facts.

Right now - Obamacare has meant that *fewer* people have health insurance. And that trend will *absolutely* continue through february. And I'll bet you a dozen donuts its true for the first year - and probably years 2,3, and 4 as well.

If the system worked as obama hoped - you would have 30 million more people (being subsidized by taxpayers) going to see the same number of doctors.

As for 5 months for your ankle. Thats poppycock. You could have gone an seen someone anytime you wanted. You just didn't want to pay the expense that would have involved.

The costs haven't changed. The only difference is now someone else is paying.

Get off the high horse. Its a valid discription of the GOP - Tea Party especially. Both have the problems with all those points. And yet how many Republican sponsored bills, made into laws, have been overturned on appeals?

Current policies have polarized the country. You think its valid of the GOP. Most on the right are equally convinced its valid of the dims.

Continueing to rule by force - and you will continue to have polarization. You think the gop is doing it by not passing funding bills. The right knows the statists are doing it by the EVER increasing size of government. Healthcare we don't want. Epa regs we don't want (or need). Mandated ethanol. Taxes on sodas.

It does? Right this moment? I thought notices went out. You mean to tell me that all those people who paid up during the end of their policies had them cancelled the minute they got their notification?

Through february? Really? When do Medicaid enrollments begin?

They were all already having their healthcare subsidized by taxpayers. You have been allowed to spin for far too long unchecked if you ever think that is a valir point to make.

Yes. Right this moment. To the tune of hundreds of thousands of people.

For example - all the people that lost full time employment as employers shifted to part time labor.
All the spouses of companies that changed their insurance benefits (UPS, Home Depot)

And yes - from september through the february you will see more and more and more people losing insurance coverage.

And just so we're clear - medicare isn't insurance. Its an entitlement.

Uhuh. 5 months is not something you can blame on American healthcare - nor hold it out to be illustrative.

Just so we are clear, many of those who lost "insurance" lost same day insurance, which is a joke.

And no one spoke about medicare. I said Medicaid

And you still cant see the benefit of that expansion. Honestly, some people have so many blinders on I wonder how they find a keyboard.

I am truly curious what is your field of employment. To believe that waits havent always been a part of the industry is laughable. Waits can be caused by many factors. Then again, if you are part of the health care industry, you would know that.

I see no further point to discussing this with you, since you insist on putting words in my mouth; as there is no fact you don't know; and no chance of changing your mind.

I never said that one couldn't wait for medical treatment. You made the aspersion that you were forced to wait 5 months to get your ankle treated. Yet after obama care *poof* all was milk and sugar in the land of honey.

Again I say - you made a choice. You chose the doctor you wanted to see, and the delay that was tolerable to you. That delay was *your* choice.

Funny - thats the same thing I want for me. I want to be free to choose the medical choices I want to make.

As for medicare / medicaid - it doesn't matter. Neither are insurance - where the costs to the subscribers support the benefits afforded them. They are government programs. The cost of which are now slated to exceed 1.85 trillion dollars, despite covering 3 million less people.

Regarding the "benefit of that expansion". You're right. I don't see the benefit of another huge government program . Another huge government entitlement. Another huge one size fits all approach.

To the contrary. While I personally would *never* support romney care in my state (nor did romney for that matter for he vetoed it) - I would support the ability of states to act as laboratories - to set policy for their states.

I see no compelling advantage for imposing it on people that do not want it.

On this issue, there is very little I dont know. And, while you claim to no longer way to discuss this issue with me, you continue to do so.

I said I waited. I never said it was milk and honey now, though, its cute you would read it that way, and very telling. MY point was that we all wait at some point in time, even if its just for the weekend. This doom and gloom attitude that suddenly we will have wait times is laughable. There may even be longer wait times. We have those as well. Check out cardiac surgery in certain large cities.

quote:

It was tolerable for me. As it is for many people. Demand and supply often has its limitations. I just prefer that limitation not be cost.

Medicaid is a subsidy. Medicare people pay into. Couple that with the fact that Medicare is the program that trains physicians for the field that we are currently discussing and you might finally realize that things are not quite so dry cut as you have beeb lead to believe. BTW? Medicaid is the branch that also covers hospital and long term facility inspections.

Same thing said about Medicare. Go ask how many who are receiving it if they would willingly give it up... especially among those who are so dead set against the ACA.

And, while I can see your point, that states should run themselves, we go back to people being locked into a certain location or position based upon benefits. 50 states, 50 different polices. Could we even vacation anymore?

notanewmaster -> RE: Pink Slips for Health Insurance (10/27/2013 9:19:48 PM)

wow so the medicare that I have is not insurance? here I didn't know I was getting an entitlement. good thing I was told here. sarcasm included.

Portability does not require a federal program. California set the standard for auto emissions even in the absence of federal action.

Many states have portable prepaid college plans.

Opening up insurance competition between states is a no-brainer. However, its not done. Why do you think?
Could it be because insurance companies protect their back yard by making donations to politicians?

If you think that medicare/medicaid are insurance plans - perhaps you don't know as much as you think.
Its funny. I've studied my field for more than 30 years. I would never say "there isn't much I don't know in it".

To the contrary, the more I know, the more I realize how much more there is to know.

I didn't say it wasn't. I just pointed out that it fit the other side as well. But I can understand those who don't want to admit their are problems with their own side. (and no I don't mean you) They spend all their time painting the other side as evil and they don't want people doing the same thing to them. It's kinda sad but understandable. I am just glad I don't see as many in the real world as I do on here.
