ORIGINAL: Anuser check your privilege at the door. Not everyone was raised with the same opportunities as you were. Having good parents, role models, and educational systems is easy to take for granted until you don't have it. Try to put yourselves in someone else's shoes for once! Jesus fucking christ. I cannot believe I actually have to give this speech on a BDSM bbs of all places, but there you have it. I have no privilege... I was orphaned at birth, left at the hospital by my mom Went to one of the shittiest schools in PA Grew up Poor... Dropped out of HS at 16 to get a full time job to be able to have shoes that actually fit and didnt have holes. I got into a cyber school to finish my hsd while working 2 full time jobs Was smart enough to realize id be like my foster parents if i didnt use the brain i have. Got into computers and now at 24 i make over 70k a year Sorry but Get a fucking job, have a job and cant make ends meet,,, Get a skill that deserves better pay... Running a barcode over a scanner doesnt deserve more then 7.25 an hour... putting an item on a shelf doesnt either... Want to make more then 7.25 an hour... BE worth more then it... Your not supposed to feed a family of 4 on 25k a year... if you cant support yourself why the fuck are you having children that I have to support because YOU havent figured out what a condom is.. For everyone one of these stories I hear, there are a few hundred were things went from bad, to worst, to ugly, and then on to things far more horrible. You bash at people to 'get a job' without considering that even with your upbringing, you STILL can not afford an ounce of humility. I know a few people looking for a job. And they frankly have a better chance at winning the Powerball Jackpot than getting out of the $7.25/hour. I would think someone like you, with a past life so rough, would understand that not everyone has things 'go their way' at all times. That 'set backs' are more common than 'advances in life'. The only way you could really reach this level of 'work philosophy' comes down to only one of two possibilities: A ) You bullshitted everything in your story. Yeah, you walked to school up hill, both ways, in 10 feet of snow, with no shoes... B ) At 24 and believe you understand everything in the world would show to anyone what you really know.... Given that your on post #1 (as of this writing), I'm more likely to believe 'A' than 'B'. Rather than bitch at people to find jobs, what are YOU doing to help solve the problem? Nothing. All your 'life events' if they did happen, have taught you absolutely NOTHING of real worth. Your 24, degreed, making $70K/year and still without an ounce of wisdom into reality. Don't worry, in five to twenty years, you'll get an educational lesson that your unprepared to deal or handle. You wont know when it happens, or even why; but it'll tear up your existence. It will not be pretty or enjoyable by any stretch of the imagination. An then you'll be forced to come to terms with how much of an asshole you've been over the years to people that you don't even know. An you know what will be the really painful thing? Some snot-nose kid berates you out of ignorance because he thinks he knows everything there is to know about the world. An how do I know this, you ask? Eventide: Based on working for major corporations for over the last 40+ years, I can assure you that any company in business today will soon realize that a 70K/year IT job being done by a 24-year-old is tailor-made for outsourcing at one-third that salary - or less.
