Yes. QFT.

Only the mathematically challenged cannot see that.

I say do it.  Remember, I look forward to simple singlepayer national healthcare.

They're not going to pay for it.
They are going to deny care.
That's what the death panels are for.

so medicare is also gonna get these death panels?

well.. I am not sure what the US version of that looks like!

truckinslave -> RE: Obamacare takes off... (12/3/2013 11:44:50 AM)

Obamacare is designed to fail, destined to fail, cannot help but fail. It is intended to bring about single payer. The only purpose for the death panels is to ration (i.e. deny) care.

Which at some point I agree with, btw. But it's at the point that if you're sick or injured and haven't bothered to get your own health insurance, well, it sucks to be you. Private charity pays for your care or you die.

In other words: freedom, as opposed to government oppression.

well, what you are missing is that with no insurance you would pay the 100K plus.

pay attention. What I said is you sign up after you know you need expensive treatment. Unless Obama lied, they cannot refuse you insurance for a pre-existing condition. (the expensive treatment you need)

This is scary, I think I agree with you. IF it was run by COMPETANT people! The current government does not fall in that catragory.

The only purpose of private insurance co's is to return money to their shareholders.

And... you are aware, I presume, that the private insurance co's have "death panels"?

Just think about this:

The only people NOT bitching about Obummercare are Obummer and his Pablum-puking minions and the insurance companies. Hmmmmm

what is stopping someone from signing up for the gold/best plan (with much lower deductibles) once they know they need it? I know that wouldn't happen in every case but could in cases where you were forewarned of impending major healthcare needs..

Another poster said if you upgrade a plan, you pay a penalty. But that would be peanuts compared to 40% of a big hospital bill. Another poster said there are easy ways to get out of the penalty too. Something about not paying a utility bill until you get a late notice or shut off notice (giving you a hardship thing) and then paying it before the shutoff. That would not affect your credit rating.

mnottertail -> RE: Obamacare takes off... (12/3/2013 1:35:32 PM)

nothing that way would affect your credit rating unless you didnt pay the balance of the bill.

Well the pablum puking minions seem to outweigh the shiteating nutsackers by about 8 to 1.  So, I don't know.

IMO that sentence begins with two superfluous words.

Okay, so, it's June 17th. You have no insurance. You get sick, go to ER and are told you have a significant illness - say, cancer. (You are also the proud owner of a brand new
doctor bill.)

June 18th: You calling the insurance company, "I need insurance."

Insurance company. "Sorry, it's not open enrollment. Come back in December and we'll enroll you starting Jan. next year." You're on the hook for your own doctor bills and with cancer, unless you're well-off, expect it to bankrupt you.

It has nothing to do with whether or not you have a pre-existing condition. Timing matters.

Which they do best by retaining their current customers and attracting new ones. And that doesn't happen unless they provide superior customer service.

No. They have something called "contracts".

Are you certain? I'm under the impression that one of the big "advantages" of Obamacare is that, unlike many situations under the current/previous system, it's open season all the time.

Like drones in Deer Trail, Colorado [sm=car.gif]

Yes. This is what I used to teach and I'm 100% positive. It's standard industry practice.

Your impression is incorrect.

Nice try, you can give that insurance company the finger and go to another one. What do you do when there are two people who need a procedure but there is only enough medical capacity for one?" The "death panel" decides who is the most worthy. Age? Social standing? ????

You just can't make this shit up.

I also looked up- verrrry cursorily- the "open enrollment" blather. One of the "qualifying life events" that entitles one to open enrollment is.... wait for it...... wait....... wait..... not much longer...... moving to another state.... TADA.

So, for the price of a tank of gas and a deposit on an apartment, insurance to cover your cancer.....
