Having been a manager of a portrait studio I'm a bit dismayed
at the low quality photos posted to profiles.

By low quality I mean, fuzzy out of focus, poor color, washed out, pixelated
crap. You'd make a better impression not posting any photo.

You only get once chance to make a good first impression. And on the internet
that's the pic you put in your profile.

I suggest your primary photo be a close up at least from the waist up. That way
we can see what your face is like. Put your full length shots as secondary photos.

Primary photos should be clear, sharp face shots. All 2ndary photos need to be
clear and sharp.

Perhaps you could do me the favor of critiquing my profile photos? I would be glad to make changes, provided I know which ones to make. Thanks!

Nice tips, thank you...although it would be hard to improve the quality of my pics cause i take them with my webcam and it is not adjustable...and, unfortunately, there are no profesional photographers in my area.

I don't use a photo because of professional concerns.  A local teacher not so long ago lost her job due to pictures being on the internet.  I don't teach but do have a sensitive job that in my part of the country would make having a picture very dangerous.  I wonder if that is part of the out of focus reason for many?

A lot of the fuzzy pics I have seen look like they have been taken with a webcam, maybe thats it.

I know some pic's are sent in a certain size and then for some reason they get blown up in the profile to a bigger size, it has happened to me. Then they tend to go out of focus and/or become more pixelated. So it's not just the shots people are submitting it is how they are handled and altered afterward they submit them.
Others may distort it on purpose to help disguise who they are.

Hormonal evil batich says......and sometimes I wish they were more fuzzy and out of focus.........

Seriously, not everyone has the ability to take good photos as described, or even wants them. I personally hate the obviously professional "glamour type" pictures. Also annoying are the ones pretending to be tough in sunglasses. To each their own.

You did very well with a webcam. MUCH better than most.
I would suggest redoing the first one and turn your hand over.
Rest your chin on the back of your hand. Keep the hand open
and curved.

I find your primary photo excellent in quality and composition.
2nd photo needs a color level adjustment to reduce the excessive
amount of flash.

The pic of your tatoo is also very good.

One is very poor quality - blurry but good composition.

The others need a color level adjustment.

The program can only work with what YOU send them. If the file you send isn't large enough to start with you'll have that problem. So make usre you send a file large enought. Bigger is better because making a file smaller maintains clarity.

I'm not referring to obviously disguised photos.

Your comment is totally of topic and not germain to the issue at hand.
Why do you ASSUME I don't?

I'll bet you have no idea why I'm displaying a white cockade.

edited to add: I tried to contact this person privatley but I get a "Profile Not Found"

WTF?  Are you for real?!!
You got some nerve, "...rest your chin on the back of your hand..." Unbelievable!

Your pic may be in sharp focus but it doesn't do you much good.
I find it an unflattering photo. You kind of look like a clown a red nose would complete the picture quite nicely and you look to be kind of grumpy too.
How many "hit's" does your photo produce from the ladies? Fill us in on all the women fighting to talk to you.

The nature of the thread was to comment on the poor quality of photos.  I think that stating a photo is blurry, requires a color adjustment,  or suggesting a different hand position, is in a lot better taste than criticizing the specific personal traits of the person in the photograph.

While you may not find him to be your cup of tea... the photo he posted is of good, clear quality.  I can't post a photo for education, work, and small child reasons... but I give credit to those who do post a photo- especially one of  high quality or interest.

MrrPete looks Scottish to me, but I'm not an authority.  While I wish I could verify Scot ancestry, it's one of those cases where my dad heard from my grandfather that we /might/ have Scottish blood somewhere in there.

*sigh*  Oh well.  I've Irish blood, anyway.  That I know for certain.

As for pictures...  I've only got this one.  Took it of myself with a digital camera.  Set the camera on a dresser, hit the button, and then jumped fast to the top of the bed hoping I was in range.  It didn't turn out too badly, so I used it.

Brightspot:   Who the hell are you to treat Pete this way?  You are a rude, unthinking woman and this post of yours speaks ill of your quality as a person!  Change your name to "dullone".  It fits you better.

(Note, I have no vested interest in this discussion, and I don't know Mr. Pete.  I'm just a hawk for bad manners.)

As long as they are reasonably clear, I like the more casual amatuerish shots. More realistic.
Silly stock poses don't make a difference to me. It would take away from the individual spontanaety of them, if they all followed a pro format.

Webcams are getting better in quality, so clarity should gradually improve.

Considering they wont let us post professional photos, and I'm not about to ask my mom or friends to take one of me for it lol you'll just have to put up with my webcam shot *shruggs*

If someone is turned off by the photo and can't be bothered to read the profile I'm not really that interested in interesting them anyway
