Status: offline 		I'm still baffled as to how the transit cop knew that he had a permit. I'm wondering was there perhaps an NRA bumper sticker or something along that line that led to an assumption and the officer thought if he would press the issue the driver would somehow confess? Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against bumper stickers of any kind, I have issues with law enforcement officers and security officers who have very long sticks up their asses.

As Igor pointed out concealed carry permits are public and that may be how he found out.
The bumper sticker is also a possibility.

My impression is that this has less to do with the gun at all and is more about the general problem we have of police all over this country abusing their authority and violating the rights of private citizens. It does not matter if it is this man in Maryland, the man in New Mexico who was given enemas and a colonoscopy after a traffic stop or the teenager in Philadelphia who had his testicles ruptured when a cop stopped and frisked him with no known cause. The problem we are having now started decades ago. No one cared when it was only poor minorities in urban areas who the police were doing this to. Now that its spread and its happening to middle class, suburbanites......well, that's different.

Back then everyone tried to pretend they didn't understand what the rappers were so angry about. I think we all get it now.

they have the authority to kill a minority

It came up in a computer check, obviously. Which database, and where in the process would be my question.

What I find troubling is the wife's relationship to the gun. If there is a gun in the home, then basic safety dictates that she know how to safely handle it, and whether or not it is present on a long journey.

The wife's statement was a bit unsettling. All of my children have gone through gun safety classes and hunter safety classes. That was my responsibility as a parent.

Status: offline 		Even if I wasn't a gun owner, I would still want my children to take safety classes. How many times have we read where children were at another child's house and there wound up being an accidental shooting?

They warned us, yet guns were outlawed long enough to get rid of the Black Panthers. Like I said, this has been going on for decades. It could have been stopped then. Now that this behavior has been pretty much "sanctioned" by precedent; the cops are accustomed to doing it and the laws are written in a way that gives them very liberal authority to do it. It is going to be much harder to stop it now.

So, they aren't saying. They aren't saying. Which means it's true, but they REFUSE to confirm it.

They refuse to admit their conduct. How convenient for them.

DomKen either doesn't understand bureaucrats protect themselves, or he wants to protect them himself.

Whichever..... they should send their troopers to Chicago, where real criminals create a killing field every day.

How is that possible? Chicago has very restrictive gun laws. It should be completetly safe, shouldn't it???

Pro gun people have been arguing for decades that when you allow one right to be undermined the others will follow, but that

Did you notice that a Federal judge declared their gun ban unconstitutional?
And the city attorney says they won't appeal.
