actually the FACTS lean toward creationism.

The "facts" of evolution are totally erroneous.

Those promoting evolution rely on the fact that most people do not have the technical background to realize what bullshit it is.

There are twice as many scientists that would support creationism than evolution, but the established political machinery of today’s "scientific community" attempts to crush all who would oppose the lie.

Bullshit.

Present any facts you think support creationism.

I don't doubt that Tyson would intellectually slice up Ken Ham or any opponent. I'd love to see it too!

Phalanges! If you have not read about phalanges and why they support that Evolution is the established truth here then you have not researched this enough. Google it - it is the furtherest that this debate has ever been crediably studied. Short version Evolution won - the rest is hocus pocus nonsesne.

The only "facts" that support creationism is in the bible.

Fossil records, geological age of the earth, and every other bit of evidence supports evolution.

You provide links to every scientific paper supporting creationism.

The fossil evidence in proves that the old testament is 4000 years off on when camels got to the holy land.

As for me personally, I believe that god had something to do with starting the cycle that produced humans, I just dont believe it happened in six days, and six thousand years ago.

I watched the debate live and, aside from the rambling about bow ties in the beginning, I thought Bill Nye did a fantastic job. He was honest enough to admit when science has yet to come up with an explanation for something

I wouldn't say honest, I'd say gleeful. It seemed like he did a good job expressing his enjoyment of the pursuit of knowledge. I wonder if it will translate.

which is why most people involved in the science education side of this think these "debates" are a waste of time.

I'm well aware of the creationist tactics designed to hide the fact that they're full of shit. I am also aware that many in the scientific community consider debating creationists to be giving them a credibility they don't deserve.
But the fact remains that far to many Americans don't understand why creationists are idiots when they say things like "evolution is only a theory," or "evolution can't explain the origins of life." The scientific community
needs to be more proactive in educating the public about science and the scientific method. This is a battle that needs to be waged in the schools, the courts, and the public sphere (to be fair, many are already waging this battle but things need to be stepped up).
Debates would be part of that battle. All of it broadcasted live.

The debate I would like to see? Three of the top (good debaters as well as scientifically brilliant) scientists - Tyson, Dawkins (if he can be convinced), and ? - versus three "top" creationists. Each team would have three backup members - Aron Ra, ?, ? - with access to the internet
and whatever research ("research" in the creationists case) they desire. This would not leave the burden of having to be omnipotent on one person. A three hour long debate (with a midway break of course) with opening statements, questions to each other, questions from the audience,
and closing statements.

And one more thing . . . no mercy for the creationists. Exposes them liars and idiots they are.

I was in Calcutta many years agao and for some weird reason, one of the crew I was with wanted a bible............He got a lot of blank looks from the locals and most asked "What is a bible ?" until one a little more knowledgeable than the others said "It is a story book written by the christians"................Kinda like "Winnie the Pooh" I guess, but slightly less believable.

I think you will find that no creationist will agree to that sort of debate. They want the sort that happened between Nye and Ham. 2 guys behind podiums with a time limit and no ability to research the others claims. The scum over at answersingenesis (Ham's group) are claiming victory even now because the fools who send them money believe them when they tell them that every thing Nye couldn't refute is true.

Oh, I have no doubt whatsoever that the creationists will run away from such a debate . . . which is why they (and their god) have to be publically called cowards and mocked for being afraid to stand up for their position (in other words, use their own tactics against them).

When I say no mercy, I fucking mean it.

LOL..................it's gonna be damned crowded if all the non-christians are all packed in there along with the politicians, judges, lawyers and bent cops !!!......................I hope nobody drops a few a-bombs or they will all be lining up to get in there at the same time.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: Evolution/Creation debate (2/6/2014 8:30:01 PM)

maybe we could re-institute the old roman games again on a bigger scale and send as many as possible to discuss our unbelief, face to face with their god. If they can find it of course

Dude, you dont have to be christian to get to heaven, you just have to live a good life.

As for those I put in bold, the Devil already said they give sinning a bad name. They going to Centralia PA.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: Evolution/Creation debate (2/6/2014 9:21:17 PM)

Centralia sounds about the same as Hivesville here.
I've been to hell and I think I prefer it to Hivesville, Queensland.

Yep. True believers. They have a lot in common with people who still claim that President Obama is competent to govern. [8|]

To the topic at hand;

I had some real fun with this today. I was telling the preacher in the family about the debate, and the young Earth creationist "explanations" of certain events. She pulled out her Bible, and starting shooting down the claims, straight from the scriptures.

Now that would be a debate worth watching.

This folks, is from someone who thought shrub was competent....even when 200 of OUR soldiers were killed every week in THEIR "excellent adventure"....
