7 million people a week watch him and listen to his sermons. He has spiritually saved millions of people. He has the largest congregation in the USA. (40,000 people a week enter his church.) He was featured and praised on Oprah. Yet, in the forums whenever his name comes up people have nothing but bad things to say about him? Why?

in my opinion he is a false prophet like all those on television and will put it very simple would God or Jesus ever do what they are doing

I would not say much negative about him. One thing to realize is he is not a religious figure, he is a motivational speaker. Giving religious coating to what he is doing is from one hand logical (being moral and ethical has benefits) and from other hand it is an excellent advertising trick. People believe they were attending church service and they leave satisfied having picked up something practical. It is fake of course as "snappykappy" already said.

I've never seen his name come up, but why should he get any better treatment here than Christ does?

To the OP: Because most people cannot get over the fact he is a preacher who lives in a mansion and makes a lot of money for speaking to millions of people. Personally I don't have a problem with anyone making money for what they do for a living as long as they are paying their taxes and putting back into what they have gotten. But most people do have a problem with it thus have a problem with him.

The amount of people a huckster can get under their tent doesn't speak to anything more than Charisma, in my book.

How many people watch wrasslin', every week? How many Catholics attend mass?

If Olsteen speaks to you and you find comfort, go in peace.

I ain't buyin' it.

Can I get a big amen brothers and sisters. Be sure to be extra kind to that collection plate going around. Give with your wallet not your heart. What a cult.

There are two types of people in these forums. Happy and not so much. Happy people make negative judgments but never share them.

BOOM! BOOM!

But on a serious note Lorraine, if you like him and it does you good, don't worry about others thinking. Christians get a lot of heat, its part of it. He isn't my favorite speaker, but if he is yours, KEEP MOVING FORWARD SISTA!

"The main difference between a con man and an evangelist is the evangelist believes his own con." - Mark Twain

Only time will tell if he is in it to help people or for the heady rush of leading a personality cult. For every honest preacher there are a hundred egotistical manipulators behind a pulpit.

If you wonder why people are so skeptical of any evangelist; have a look at the book "Marjoe" by Margoe Gortner. Marjoe was raised as a child evangelist. He had a crisis of conscience and wrote a bestselling expose of the evangelist business. He went on to be a pretty good character actor.

Or, if you don't want to read the book, watch the movie.

.. the dvds are available from Netflix too

Yeah and the reason why he is a so called "preacher of the faith" is so he can get a tax exempt status. Make money and pay no taxes. Scam artist. They are nothing more than charlatan's preying on the weak of mind. Taking from the poor in order to maintain their wealthy lifestyles. Why not live like the people you take from do? Live on meager means like they do? Damn creeps!
