quote:
ORIGINAL: Lordandmaster I've been to Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, and know very well how proud everyone is of his or her identity. Your use of the word "country" in this quote shows how confused you are. When you say "Please don't presume to tell me how my country runs," which "country" are you referring to--England or the U.K.? Your profile says you're from Bradford, which is in England. So, by your logic, your country is England. I'm not talking about England. I'm talking about Scotland and Wales. (Again, I didn't include Ireland in this; you keep shoving it in, and also pretending that there's no difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.) Therefore, since I'm not talking about England, I'm not telling you how your country runs. But in fact I really do think I understand how the U.K. runs better than you do. Sorry if that bothers you. The only thing I don't understand, and am resigned to believe I never will, is why England sends its own team to the World Cup. If England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland could agree and play as a U.K. team, you know, they might actually win one time. quote:
ORIGINAL: missturbation Id love to see you go to Scotland, Wales or Ireland and tell them they are not seperate countries. Do you know (obviously not) how proud those people are of their seperate identities. You would be ripped apart. Please dont presume to tell me how my country runs. It's called a confederation. Multiple countries under a single federal banner. For example, Scotland has its own national parliament. She has also throughout her participation in the United Kingdom retained a seperate court/legal system. *meow*
