In still remains that ten times as many kids drown as get shot, a fact that doesn't seem to sink in..

The CDC calls 15 to 18 year olds youth which is simply a synonym for child.

With this incarnation the gun will not fire unless the hand holding the weapon has a "watch"
on that wrist sending out an enabling signal.
I will not presume to speak for everyone but for starters I don't have any faith in the technology.
Second I oppose it being made mandatory, particularly at this early stage of development.
The main effect of this, as I see it, would be to to make firearms too expensive for all but the
wealthy.

Kcsub brought up the question of making it mandatory, not me.
In fact while you must not realize it, but you jumped in on the response to his claim that
making it mandatory would save thousands of lives.

So you don't understand synonyms either. I shouldn't be surprised. But one would think it might have occurred to even the meanest intellect that if the CDC considered the words "children" and "youth" to be interchangeable, they wouldn't have presented the data for those groups in separate tables.

Synonyms are words that may mean the same thing, but they may also be words that just mean something close, and while they may be interchangeable in some contexts, they are manifestly not in others. The words in list of synonyms almost never all mean exactly the same thing. See how that works?

a person between birth and puberty ~Houghton-Mifflin
a boy or girl between birth and puberty ~Collins
a young person from the time they are born until they are about 14 years old ~MacMillan
a young person especially between infancy and youth ~Merriam-Webster

So how about taking a nap now? You must be tired from all this tough intellectual work. On question 2 it's what Bama said and a crap load of other stuff. If ya read the whole thread you'll pretty much get a complete perspective on why gun fans (most of them I would presume), don't like this gun or any other gun equipped with the same technogy.
