ORIGINAL: Jasmyn Aellea nice post ... women need to stop seeing other women as competition (and yes am sure this statement will have a few people saying that they don't) but from a sociological point of view it is very common. I agree 100%. It took alot of painful self examination before I could get out of that whole mindset. Reminds me of the phrase I read once. "Women do not dress up for men, they do it for other women." It had nothing to do with wanting to please the other women but to outdo them. Fortunately, at least with the women I am close to, maturity removes most of that competition and unites us in a way most men just cannot fathom. Well yes, of COURSE women dress up to impress other women, men could care less! I could spend hours buying the perfect wonderful outfit, just the right color to match my skin tone and cut to accentuate my figure, get my nails and hair done etc... but if I looked really, REALLY great, the best I could hope for is that it would make him imagine me naked. *sigh* When I look good to impress the women, oh well then....it's a conversation starter. (especially shoes) *double sigh* I'm a bit discouraged about men these days myself. I would have to say "we" don't need them. Of course it is handy to have one around when I need a jar opened or a tire changed. The trouble is they can't just do it gracefully. They have to snigger and swagger when you ask for help, acting like they're SOOO special because they can open a jar with one little "snick". Teasing and poking fun because you can't do it. Well la-de-fricken-DA! Yup- I hate em' Ok, now if I go gay I can be gorgeous AND avoid ridicule. If I buy one of those electric jar openers I just might be able to do this. Some of us DO care about the way you dress, the right shoes, the manicured nails, and we're called sissies, and not MANLY enough for you. Women choose the "bad boys", and then whine when they act bad...I don't get it.
