I am sure they have their papers in order if it isn't an invasion, and that they are coming through in a legal, orderly manner.

Baghdad Ken wouldn't admit it was an invasion even if there were machine gun laden technicals full of Mexican drug cartel people rolling down Madison Avenue in Chicago.
Ken's the biggest Apologista left on the boards, he'll never get a clue as to how bad a President Obama has been.

You do know that on this issue Obama has deported more illegals than any President ever, right?

Except the White House and the President aren't actually taking credit...
WH:
    quote:

"The government’s job is to do what Congress tells it to do," Muñoz replied. "Congress, under the immigration laws that we've got now, Congress requires us to remove people who are removable and gives DHS, frankly, a whole lot of resources to do that job. DHS’s job is to make sure they make the best possible decisions on how they use those resources."

The President:
    quote:

"The reason for these high figures is because Congress doubled the number of ICE and Border Patrol agents. I don't this is something necessarily good or useful for many of these families," said the President.

You might want to read your talking points memo.

So? Sanity and rob were whining that the President doesn't do enough when in fact he does more than any previous President. I just pointed out reality.

Oh no! Someone was whining about something! DomKen to the rescue (with false attribution, no less)!!!

The President isn't anyone. He even says it's not him. Apparently, it's Congress (GOP and Democrats) that deserve the praise/blame (whichever your view of the deportation rate) for it.

And, according to your standard, you're fucking lying about him doing more than any previous President.

The President is the executive branch and it is the executive branch doing the deporting. Just because the President is gracious and acknowledged that Congress funded the increase in deportations doesn't change shit about who is responsible and who runs those agencies.

And there is nothing false about it, Sanity and rob were both whining about the issue. I preserved the quotes above to prove it.

so in point of fact, more people have been deported since Obama took Office than any other president before him...The agencies have done it....
he gets the blame, but not the credit..
same shit different depth

It all depends on how you look at it.

http://america.aljazeera.com/opinions/2014/1/what-the-deportationnumbersdonattell.html
    quote:

Over the past five years, activists, academics and the news media have stressed that the Obama administration has removed nearly 2 million undocumented immigrants, and is on pace to deport more than any other White House in U.S. history.

The truth is that the U.S. is actually deporting fewer people than it did before — but the way in which it is doing so has never been so punitive.

There are two ways in which someone can be forced to leave the U.S. The first is by removal, which the federal government defines as “the compulsory and confirmed movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the United States based on an order of removal.” The second is by return, or “the confirmed movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the United States not based on an order of removal.” That was formerly referred to as a “voluntary departure.”

In fiscal year 2013, the United States removed 368,644 people who were in the country without authorization. That’s down from a record 419,384 the year before. In 2012 — the last year for which federal statistics for both removals and returns are available — the US deported a total of 649,352 people, down from President Bill Clinton’s all-time high of 1,864,343 in fiscal year 2000.

When it is defined as the sum of removals and returns, our understanding of deportation changes. Deportations are not at all-time high levels, but removals are. The Obama administration has removed a record number of immigrants over the past five years, but it’s inaccurate to say that it has deported a record number.

The distinctions between the two might not seem like a big deal — they both result in people leaving, often against their will — but there are some key differences that are worth considering. Removal comes with an automatic five- or 10-year ban on applying to re-enter the country; if apprehended a second time, migrants could face incarceration and a 20-year or lifetime ban from re-entry. The repercussions of return, or voluntary departure, are less harsh. In some cases individuals are allowed to remain in the country for a short period to tie up loose ends. Voluntary departure also comes with shorter bars to re-entry, or no bar at all if one has been in the U.S. for less than 180 days. But both removal and return require an individual to leave the country by order of the federal government, and both should be counted in the total number of deportations.

Looks like Bill Clinton leads the charge in total deportations, then maybe W, then Reagan and finally President Obama. Sorry if that upsets your apple cart. (ETA: No I'm not. )

Actually that story, like everything else coming out of the White House is a lie.

Heritage Foundation? They catch them in the US and send them back. Previous administrations counted those and so does the Obama administration. The Heritage guy flat out lied. Go read the link DS just posted. It explains it in some detail.

I thought you wanted illegal immigrants treated as criminals? That is what Obama is doing more than any previous President. Isn't that what you guys want?

What part of Obama not deporting more than any other President do you not get? Oh, wait. I know. It's Obama, so he's the bestest of the bestest, regardless of what the facts are.

The link shows a video from CSPAN. I guess in your myopic world view CSPAN is considered an enemy of the administration, therefore illegitimate.

Ken, your blind worship of all things Obama is very very sad. I'd hate to have to live in your head.

It definitely is not the armed forces. We do not used the military for law enforcement period.

There is plenty of precedent for using the military to repel an invasion

Once again, that pesky Constitution is in your way.

When someone proposes a real solution, you get kind of panicky don't you.

Where does the Constitution even imply that we cannot use the military to repel a foreign invasion?

No reason to panic over nonsense.

First, you'll have to convince folks that children running into the arms of waiting border patrol constitutes a "foreign invasion."

Maybe the answer is to bring out troops home and let them go into Border Patrol, outfit our BP with all the military surplus they can use rather than gifting it to local LEO's. The number of people in the military drops, the number of people working increases (the number of people getting paid by the US taxpayer won't increase, as those in the military that go to BP were already getting paid by the US taxpayer).

You are not from around here are you? This country has a law that says that the military is seperate from civil law enforcement. So no the military cannot be put in the bp.

With the Commander-In-Chief in charge of it, right? Like with Vietnam and Korea, its just a police action.

Law enforcement.

If you should ever acquire a geography book you might find out that korea and vietnam are not in the u.s.

President Obama will ask Congress to provide more than $2 billion in new funds to control the surge of illegal Central American migrants at the South Texas border, and to grant broader powers for immigration officials to speed deportations of children caught crossing without their parents, White House officials said on Saturday.
