ORIGINAL: deathtothepixies You girls might think they were idiots, but they were strong willed intelligent women with too much respect for themselves to allow any man to bankroll them. I guess feminism has different meanings in some places and to some people Strong-willed? Yup Intelligent? I like to think so. Self-respect? Sure. Going to make sure that "all is even" when it comes to paying for dates? Not on your life. I have been around the block enough, and have seen enough of, what is IMO, "twisted feminism", to just shake my head at the whole "we're even" now thing when it comes to male/female relationships, in whatever form. To bring it back to the "tribute" issue of this thread... Whether it's someone taking me out to dinner....or a male sub giving a Domme a "tribute"....this is what people WANT to do. It gives them a sense of self. (For the record, I am speaking now about someone who has a full grasp of his faculties and is able to make informed decisions...) If someone honestly WANTS to do this, who is anyone to judge it? Sure, it may not be what we would choose, but heck, to use the idea of "feminism" as "what should be"? Holy hell, I think most of us can probably think of one or two examples of how "feminism" has really not worked out all that well... Earlier this month, I spent a week with a Dom friend of mine. With my own situation at this point, I would have been unable to sport the trip on my own, let alone all of the eating out, etc. Honestly, it bothered me. Even now, as I think back on it, I am conflicted...and honestly am kicking myself for having that reaction. This guy, who is in complete control of all of his faculties, WANTED to do this....to spend this time with me...why in the world shouldn't I accept it for what it is? In this situation, where has "feminism" gotten me? ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE. There are a lot of people in this world who get JOY out of taking care of someone...whether it be in the form of tribute or otherwise. If their arms aren't being broken as they're doing it, I simply fail to see where the harm is.
