It might be worth tossing in a few practical tips too, like don't rob stores or make a move on armed cops. Because if you really want to trace the fault for this kind of shit, the trail leads straight back to the parents and the community.

K.

To me that falls under the common sense and respect thing.

We have to start teaching our kids respect, common sense, how to problem solve, as well as the value of consequences.

Unless you are black and "looked like an angel." Then those rules don't apply according to the Gospel of Al Sharpton, Bill DeBlasio, Spike Lee, Jesse Jackson, and a million other race-baiters. Ever wonder why black youths have so many problems? With enablers like these assholes, it's no wonder.

Let me see now, how is it this goes?

quote:

is it the inefficence of the weapon that pisses you off or are you just mocking the death of a persons to make a political point?

Yeah, that was it.

No Viagra needed for Polite this evening I see.

I haven't read the thread (and doubt there would be any point in doing so), but let me 'splain something. In the US, we have kids who race cars and motorcycles, jump out of airplanes, train attack dogs, climb mountains, scuba dive, and engage in any other inherently risky sport you can think of. This is a tragic accident, but it doesn't call for jack shit, or call jack shit into question.

I think that covers it. [8|]

As I understand it, the instructor did not have his hand on the Uzi when he went to automatic fire.

I've seen no indication that he ever "went to automatic fire." It could be that the selector was moved inadvertently.

K.

I watched a full video of it on local news, it clearly shows the child shooting a single shot, then he reaches over and changes it to full auto

then it went on to show the difference in how he did this excersize and another instructor did the same excersize with a small boy with zero problems

I don't think anything you said conflicts with the idea that the parents were stupid to choose a fool to teach their daughter how to shoot.

Still don't think a 10 year old has any business with full auto.
Something I don't think has been asked, correct me if I am wrong, but were they teaching the girl to shoot, or to shoot automatics? Regardless I don't think anyone has any business giving a full auto to someone of that age.

You're as entitled to that opinion as Polite is to his. It isn't something I would likely choose to do either, but the instructor was supposed to know what he was doing.

Do you agree that at a minimum he should have started off with two or three rounds to get a feel for her ability to control it?

I will, now and then, take someone with limited or no shooting experience along when we go out plinking. The rule is that we never give anyone anything to shoot that they are not going to be able to handle. It seems to us to be a pretty damn good rule.

Yep that would come right after it's always loaded and never point it at something you don't intend to shoot.

TheHeretic -> RE: Another pointless gun death. (8/27/2014 10:12:28 PM)

And just a note to our British friends who have gotten themselves all into a tizzy about something involving the guidance provided to an American child, do be aware that some of your news flows our way as well.

The Rotherham subject is going to be taboo on this forum, but what the FUCK is wrong with you miserable shits!?!?! Maybe have a look in your own fucking yard, instead of peering into ours? 1400 victims over a period of years and your goddamn USELESS FUCKING unarmed police just assumed they were exaggerating and making up stories, and were afraid they might be called racists if they did anything?

HOW FUCKING DARE YOU make snide little comments about us when this is happening under your noses?

Those are the rules we give them. What I mentioned is the rule the guys who bring the guns operate under. Obviously, we don't have anything with a rock-n-roll setting.

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: Another pointless gun death. (8/27/2014 10:26:56 PM)

It's happening already - I saw on the late news in an interview with the owner of the gun store/range that he (the owner) has denied that the deceased was an actual instructor there.

Tick-Tock, NRA - you're wasting valuable spin time!

BTW: Thank you to all the teabagger nutball gun freaks out there who have driven up the price of ammo to the point where I can't afford to shoot as often as I'd like. Get this through your thick, redneck hat-holders: Obama is NOT coming for your guns!

That is a lie! Why, just yesterday he came to the house across the street and took all of the guys guns. [:)]

No that wasn't even implied and not being a Brit I didn't jump to that conclusion.

You just can't deal with this not being a right wing plot can you?

TheHeretic -> RE: Another pointless gun death. (8/27/2014 10:41:42 PM)

Dave, the ammo thing was from Homeland Security stockpiling 3 billion rounds.

Of course, the new sanctions on Russia have cut off the flow of that Soviet surplus 7.62 that is my plinking round of choice. It's up to over 30 cents a round, so I'm figuring to pick up as much as I can before the price doubles. The Chinese crap is horrible.

Don't you recognize a seminar poster when you see one?

I found two stories where the owner referred to him as their instructor so it sounds like someone is pulling your leg.
Maybe though the instructors are independent contractors which would mean that while they worked there they would not be "employees" of the range.
