sounds childish to me.

The internet is very childish, you can either enjoy the playful aspect or be irritated by it, but it's unlikely to change.

When someone sends me a message then blocks me it doesn't wind me up I just think how ballsless they are for not allowing a response.

Hmm, I guess I don't see the world in terms of 'balls' but in terms of access. This world wide web we have provides access to billions of people for billions of reasons, which is what makes it so interesting and enjoyable. If someone is sending me stupid, wanky or hostile messages then they are abusing their access to me. Now either they don't really care about that access, in which case it's merely a protective function for me to block them, or they do care but are deliberately misusing it for their own wanky or egotistical purposes in which case they deserve the sanction. Either way, blocking or deleting unread fulfill the same function - they provide a social sanction for behaviour that is felt to be inappropriate and they socialise the person being blocked or deleted into understanding that their contact was inappropriate or undesired, which in turn will have a knock-on effect on their future behaviour (hopefully). It's simple socialisation. Allowing a person who has breached social rules to contact me would be sending the message that such behaviour is, ultimately, acceptable and would increase the chances of them repeating the behaviour with me and others. It's not so much 'ballsy' as self-defeating.

I see it simply as not wanting to deal with the consequences of their actions. In my case they would be disappointed I never respond to nasty asshole messages because I am dedicated to avoiding drama online where possible - and yes it's possible.

I'm short on cash, will you take an IOU?

LiveSpark -> RE: Deleted Unread (12/28/2014 6:28:00 AM)

You can leave with a flounce or you can chalk this up to experience, learn from it and stick around. It's up to you and I won't beg you to stay.

My original post was about people who choose to Delete Unread for the specific purpose of annoying the other person, like turning your back in the middle of a conversation or putting your fingers in your ears, or hanging up a phone.

I have had a couple of conversations where this has happened, obviously I know the content of the conversations and there's no explanation other that it happened on purpose, no assuming going on there.

This doesn't annoy me or wind me up, I was not complaining about it. I wondered if anyone else found it amusing. it seems it rarely happens to anyone else (or they don't notice), so I have my answer.

What I have learned is to never post on any of these message boards again, because all it will come down to in the end is people picking on the content of my profile.

Seriously, just stop now. I am starting to kinda feel sorry for you, because I am terrified that someone as ignorant as you may actually try to meet up with guys for a tribute, and it may not end well.

Step back for a while and get your head together. No snark intended, take it as you wish to.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Deleted Unread (12/28/2014 6:31:09 AM)

I am gonna go camp by the mailbox. Words cannot express how I am feeling right now.

LiveSpark -> RE: Deleted Unread (12/28/2014 6:32:55 AM)

Ummm it may take a while....

theprlncesslucy -> RE: Deleted Unread (12/28/2014 6:40:14 AM)

I'm retiring from this conversation as anything I say is met with disbelief. I could say I have met a lot of people from here and fetlife in the last 3 months and all ended well, but no point. I don't think you guys realise it, but most of your assumptions have been based on what I look like. For a fetish site I find that quite narrow minded.

It happens to me frequently. It doesn't amuse or annoy me. It almost always happens when I message that I'm not interested in the sender.

I cannot speak for others, but my reaction has been to the words you type, and have nothing to do with your looks. And don't even try to play the age card either, cause I would tell another 52 yo the same things.

I made no such assumptions, EVERYTHING I have posted has been based on your posts and what you put in your profile. Yes you are young and you have a lot to learn. I suggested you learn from what has been posted here but as I said the decision is yours.

This is just too funny. I've been following this thread for a while and cannot see, for the life of me, how you came to that conclusion. [:D]

That's because she is a stuck-up, vain, highly self opinionated, inexperienced, purdy "princess".
Those of us who are experienced, or have a brain that thinks beyond "self", couldn't hope to get into her mindset.

I don't know about that. I think she's new and like some don't want to admit that she's new. I don't see the "stuck up, vain, and highly self-opinionated part.

LiveSpark -> RE: Deleted Unread (12/28/2014 7:32:50 AM)

I think she realizes that people have figured out that she's new or relatively new and has decided to deal with it by flouncing. Her choice but it's a shame because she could have learned both from the thread and people's experience. Oh well.

I apologize. That really wasn't directed at you. The site defaults to "[In reply to ........]" and it inserts the last person that posted before you post.

I don't generally negate that, when I'm just generally replying. If I'm speaking to someone, specifically, I use their name or I quote them; as I did with you, above.

My comment was about how this thread had a few contributors and a couple of people, at any given time, lurking about, but once the OP decided that the aggravation wasn't worth the entertainment value that they were hoping for and left, all the usual suspects started lurking about to feed on the already tattered carcass. Unfortunately, it's old behavior, here.

I think the OP was making a general musing and wondered (legitimately) if anyone agreed with her. There was some good advice given but there was also some responses that were less than benign.

It's old behavior that just proves the rule, rather than the exception.

I don't know about the preview part, but once I was in a CMMB back-and-forth with another poster here on , and it got heated. She sent me a private note, and when I responded she deleted it unread and then "blocked" me.

I regarded it as a cheap shot.

For me this was a once and only experience, and it happened over five years ago.

Thanks but there's no need to explain. This isn't even close to my first time here, I know the workings of this site. Sad that things haven't changed all that much but it's no surprise. It's what I call "brave on the internet" and happens everywhere. BTW I didn't think you were replying to me personally sorry if it appeared you were.

I left the old CM because it became a cluster fuck of bitchiness on the forums. Things have changed and I think the new CS is really refreshing compared to how it was. Granted I don't read every thread on here but this is the first thread I've seen that looks disappointingly familiar to the threads of old that we used to regularly see on CM.

If it gets back to being like the old CM I might just flounce off [8|]
