Dear fellow Mistresses,

I put as a condition quite rapidly in my exchanges to go Skype such to see one another and thus prove we are legit. Most of the time I get some excuse along the way "I don't have a cam".. oh sorry I don't have Skype. I treat this immediately as meaning they are fake. What is your take on it and how do you deal with these situations.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 9:46:51 AM)

There are many people that really don't have Skype.
There are also many that don't have a webcam either.
There are also many that have both but won't do that until they are sure and feel safe.

To treat all those that don't jump straight to Skype as fake is silly and your loss.

GoddessManko -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 9:48:27 AM)

Hmm...honestly I would show some interest in the sub himself first. Many subs seem to find this gesture a bit offputting and they can immediately think it's some sort of scam.

DommeCapital -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 9:52:49 AM)

My loss indeed, but I prefer this way.. to many endless chats that turn out to be pointless.

Not necessarily your loss. The ones who responded the way they did may have merely been dishonest. There is no real way to know. But exchanging an email or two before progressing is a good way to figure that out.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 9:57:56 AM)

That may be true.

But what you also need to consider is the only people you are going to catch in that type of net are those in a sub frenzy or (usually) only in it for play/scene roles.

If that's ok with you, go for it.
Otherwise, be a little more patient.

DommeCapital -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 9:59:31 AM)

I don't think so, I always exchange a few emails.. but whenever it comes to skype.. or other means of direct contact no response. I don't by this
hole not feeling safe bs. They don't have to turn on the came first time and they can create a skype profile just for cs. Really no excuses.

Skype is a free app and I would guess the number of people who are online and don't have a cellphone with a camera are less than a fraction of a percent. Welcome to the 21st century dwarf, join us.

DommeCapital -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 10:01:11 AM)

freedomdwarf1, I can't seem to be able to view your profile. Is this normal ?

DommeCapital -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 10:02:30 AM)

I totally agree with you stef, the statistics just don't work out.

Don't mind dwarf, he's our resident curmudgeon.

slaveboywonderma -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 10:16:30 AM)

if a person has nt skype , it does not mean they are fake, it could mean a lot of other things though, like they are broke, too broke to afford skype, that they are wary about putting themselves on camera for others, it could mean they are fake but it might not, best to steer a wider course i think like try and get to know them, see if they write back but if its real that one if after and the person is on the other side of the world, it might not be possible, conclude that they are fake if you wish but not everyone will see it that way

skype may be free as an app but are the calls free not sure about that, maybe they are, i stand to be corrected

GoddessManko -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 10:20:35 AM)

FR, also some people are worried about getting on cam for a faceless entity. If I give my moniker on a chat program, chances are the subs are more than happy for the exchanges. I never request them to get on cam however unless I pic verify (hold up a sign, what have you). That is an alternative to skype you can try. This honestly is a little unusual. Usually the male subs are the ones who lament about something like this.

I've only used Skype a handful of times but I never paid a dime.

slaveboywonderma -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 10:46:43 AM)

Well that is good but as is sometimes said online, coverage may vary, ie it might be different for other folk in different states and in different countries, thats all

slavekevin, it's not. I use Skype to communicate with people all across the country and around the world, both socially and professionally. It doesn't cost anything to chat (text), voice call (Skype-to-Skype), or even video.

The biggest costs are the computer or mobile phone (which they have, to be on CS), with a camera (which they may or may not have).

It's not an impediment to most people who can get on CS.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Skype (1/23/2015 11:02:47 AM)

I have been using Skype since 2000; before they even had video.

About 5-6 years ago, Skype was bought by Microsoft and is now "standard" on every windows OS computer.

Skype is absolutely free for person-to-person voice or video calls.

Video conferencing and the ability to call cell phones and landlines requires a subscription.

Skype allows you anonymity (as long as you don't use video) in that none of your personal information is shared unless YOU choose to share it. So, it is more safe than a phone and certainly safer than meeting someone for coffee.

I agree that someone that won't get on Skype (for voice only, even) within a reasonable amount of time, is probably hiding something.

Yahoo messenger is one of the most unstable and dangers IM programs out there. It allows lamers access to your comp through holes that it creates in your firewall, just to operate.

All true, but it doesn't matter. I don't Skype either. People here can either meet me in the flesh or not. Personal preference. [:)]
