Wasserman Schultz?

Her problem is that she has become the scapegoat for all of the losses that the Dems have suffered since Obama was first crowned

I've been paying some attention to Jim Webb. He's interesting, as far as Democrats go.

I don't know if I'd vote for him over Carson or Cruz, but, to my mind, after that the right side thins out, quite a bit.

bounty44 -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/15/2015 3:50:59 AM)

while I do like the idea of a non-politician being president and I have an affinity for ben carson, for some reason he's not going it for me like herman cain was last time around. although, I do like carson ahead of Christie, bush, and santorum (if he's running).

my top four are cruz, paul, jindal and walker, with cruz as my first choice. but walker's growing on me. Rubio is in the middle of my two groups---he strikes me though as a little young.

KenDckey -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/15/2015 3:51:01 AM)

He might be interesting to watch.

Lucylastic -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/15/2015 9:18:37 AM)

WASHINGTON -- “We haven’t seen any evidence of a crime,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chair of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, said Sunday about Hillary Clinton’s private email use during her service as Secretary of State.

Gowdy was speaking to "Fox News Sunday" days after Clinton responded to a New York Times article alleging that she “may have violated federal requirements” under federal records laws.

Fox News’ Chris Wallace repeatedly asked Gowdy whether Clinton had broken any laws. The Benghazi committee chair declined each time to implicate Clinton.

Asked again by Wallace if Clinton had broken rules put in place by the Obama administration, Gowdy said, “I’m going to have to let smart lawyers decide if she complied with the law or not.”

Gowdy did declare that his investigation would continue and that the full House may ultimately have to vote on issuing a subpoena for the private email server Clinton maintained for the email account she used for both government and personal use. “We may be forced to go to court to see what is in those emails,” he said.

As to a timeframe on the investigation, Gowdy said, “When you litigate something you’re talking about years and years.

As governor, Jeb Bush used e-mail to discuss security, troop deployments
Jeb Bush used his private e-mail account as Florida governor to discuss security and military issues such as troop deployments to the Middle East and the protection of nuclear plants, according to a review of publicly released records.

The e-mails include two series of exchanges involving details of Florida National Guard troop deployments after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the review by The Washington Post found.

Aides to Bush said Saturday that none of the e-mails contained sensitive or classified information, and that many of the events mentioned in them were documented in press accounts, either contemporaneously or later. But security experts say private e-mail systems such as the one used by Bush are more vulnerable to hackers, and that details such as troop movements could be exploited by enemies.

Bush is actively considering a run for president and has sharply criticized likely Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton for her use of a private e-mail account when she served as secretary of state. He called it “baffling” that Clinton didn’t consider the potential security risks of discussing diplomatic and national security issues by using an e-mail account not tied to a government server.An unknown number of the e-mails housed on Bush’s server were redacted or withheld from public release because they contained sensitive security issues, Bush representatives have said. Communications director Tim Miller said general policy was for Bush to discuss sensitive National Guard issues in person with only occasional briefings by e-mail that “wouldn’t contain information that should not be in the public domain.”

“This Democrat opposition research dump of a few innocuous e-mails that Gov. Bush voluntarily posted on a Web site only highlights how large the gap is between him and Clinton in the area of transparency,” Miller said in a statement.

Looks like Hillary Clinton may have lost Maureen Dowd & the New York Slimes

An Open Letter to [email protected]

WASHINGTON — SINCE open letters to secretive and duplicitous regimes are in fashion, we would like to post an Open Letter to the Leaders of the Clinton Republic of Chappaqua:

It has come to our attention while observing your machinations during your attempted restoration that you may not fully understand our constitutional system. Thus, we are writing to bring to your attention two features of our democracy: The importance of preserving historical records and the ill-advised gluttony of an American feminist icon wallowing in regressive Middle Eastern states’ payola.

You should seriously consider these characteristics of our nation as the Campaign-That-Must-Not-Be-Named progresses...

bounty44 -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/15/2015 10:28:00 AM)

I love that...

I've heard a couple of different responses to that type of thing.

one is, the mainstream media, in so much as they are, are attacking her now so they can all climb on board later.

and I think the more likely...

that the mainstream media doesn't carry water for Hillary as much as they have for say, Obama.

Jeb Bush was a State Governor. As such he does not fall under Federal rules. It is really not a good comparison.

Lucylastic -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/15/2015 2:04:02 PM)

LOL I didnt say he did fall under fed rules
try again.
I actually do know the difference between secretary of state and a governor, however both of them are up as possible 16 candidates. and YES discussing security and troop deployments IS an issue obviously :) thank you for your insight proving nothing. you dont think its a good comparison? your prerogative, lots of people do... just like they are doing with hilary.

KenDckey -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/15/2015 2:15:58 PM)

States generally not accessing federally classified materials have their own security procedures if I remember correctly. Additionally, some unclassified information, when seen in its totality or partial totality, may be federally classified information. Different level of government, different rules. Even within the federal government, different departments have different rules. Nothing really overly consistent.

FR

While we are working on the word filter, I am asking that you all not use those words that you know are not permitted.

Nazi is a word that is most often used to insult people and isn't talking about real Nazi's. I don't know how many times I have to state that it isn't going to be allowed. I'm tired of talking about it. Using the word implies that you are calling people murderers and that is not going to be tolerated.

Edit to add FR

Thank you. I did note the apology that followed. Right after I placed a ban. I undid the ban because of the apology, but counting on any grace I might show, would be a mistake. Sometimes I have it and sometimes I don't.

When it comes to this word and the use of it on other posters and others, right or left, no matter how disagreeable they can be, they don't deserve to be called that.

Again, thank you.

bounty44 -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/16/2015 12:34:02 PM)

i will likely be tuning into the Kelly file tonight to hear megyn Kelly catch us all up on whats going on.

in the meantime, I found this absolutely wonderful tidbit:

"Obama Urges Democrats to ‘Turn the Page,’ Abandon Hillary’s Failed Candidacy"

quote:

Because in 2007, then-Senator Obama loudly criticized then-Senator Clinton for her failure to turn over government documents...

Today, President Obama is doing all he can to avoid the issue. But in October 2007, he was practically jumping at the chance to shine a spotlight on it. So much so that when Tim Russert raised the issue at a Democratic presidential candidates’ debate, Obama raised his hand and eagerly criticized not just that specific controversy but also the broader problems that the controversy portended.

Hillary’s intense need for secrecy does sound pretty darn Orwellian, doesn’t it, Barry? A reminder that when it comes to Hillary, we should “vote different,” if given the chance:

mnottertail -> RE: Hillary's E-Mails (3/16/2015 12:53:07 PM)

"We have just gone through one of the most secretive administrations in our history. And not releasing, I think, these records — at the same time, Hillary, that you're making the claim that this is the basis for your experience — I think, is a problem," he said.

That is what he said Oct 30th in a debate.

I think that is a far cry from the cockgargling the rightwing hsyterical facist shiteaters are pretending he said with their lying Himmlerisms, and Hitlerisms.

Seems that DOJ's former FOIA guy doesn't agree with what Hillary did. Said others like Powell did use personal e-mails but complied with the rules by providing them to their department in accordance with the requirements.

Judicial Watch has a pretty good track record in court. It also seems that since State isn't arguing against reopening a closed case because of Hillary's e-mails not being included, that the Administration is not coming to her defense.

that's a good damning piece, right down until you get to the end where the author says this:

And I say that even as someone who, if she decides to run for president and is the Democratic nominee, will nevertheless vote for her next year.
