No...you don't get to mischaracterize my position .
I define my position,not you.

You have stated that carrying outside of your home means you don't trust your fellow citizens and shows that you are not responsible.
You have never seen a cop shooting that you thought was justified.
What is there to misrepresent.
Funny, you think you can define my position, if you try to do that, you cede the right for me to do the same thing.

All caricatures of actual positions...but what the fuck do I care.
You ain't listening to me(obviously) and I sure as hell ain't listening to you.....all we are really doing is entertaining (lamely) the viewing audience.

this is what you said in the thread gun goes off in Altoona church during Easter vigil post 220

There you go...he wasn't actually in jail(which would have made being on my doorstep impossible)so I should assume he is a responsible gun owner.
Yet he wears it because he doesn't trust his fellow citizens
Don't you see the contradiction in those positions ?
He's an armed man,I don't know him...but he's not in jail so he must be alright.....lol

See no caricature of your position.

slvemike4u -> RE: It Looks Like This Police Officer Fucked Up (4/14/2015 6:33:10 PM)

Which was,in itself,a response IIRC to another of your caricature of my positions.
For instance that whole conversation was concerned with a man coming over for a barbecue with a gun....an argument I am not going to re-argue with you.
You are as inflexible in your position as I am in mine.
The difference is I admit it [8|]

When I repeatedly say a guy was a jerk and you insist that I won't.
When I repeatedly say the cop was wrong and you insist that I defend every cop there is no point in saying I am inflexible when that view is based upon your admitted lack of actually reading what I say. See post 342 of this thread. You wouldn't know if I was being flexible.

slvemike4u -> RE: It Looks Like This Police Officer Fucked Up (4/15/2015 8:23:49 AM)

You qualify all of those statements.....as I said I'm not going back and re-arguing with you old threads.
Nor defending my position on all things and all matters with you,I feel no need to do so.
You think I'm an ass,I think you are,no problem....move along to the next issue [:)]

Except for the detail that what you actually posted in that case was itself a caricature of your position, a deliberate misrepresentation for "dramatic effect".

I get to do that...he and you don't

edited to add: Here's my issue,I dramatized conversation between he and I,cause quite frankly it sounded better in my head....the other issue is recalling exact quotes from a minor event five years ago is difficult at best, impossible at worst.
But the basic confrontation happened just as I detailed it and Bama still had a problem admitting that someone wearing a gun to a barbecue was a) wrong and b) an asshole for having done so.
Like I said,I'm not going to re-do that whole argument.....it is what it was and thats that.

tj I don't want us arguing of how a problem is stated... If you are saying we need strict rules on deadly force...and increased training...and strict rules on racial profiling then we have nothing to argue over... But if you are condemning the million or so police over the actions of a few then I am with you and tweak as long as I can condemn all of Islam over the actions of a few...., otherwise i will continue to call you out on your prejudice.

Butch

I don't think cops should be shooting people in the back or if they are already on the ground with other officers subduing them.. or a swarm of cops beating the crap out of a suspect.. and a stop to racial profiling.. all of what cops do in the country has caused an extremely high distrust of them, and not just from blacks and hispanics.. I don't think that cops protecting the bad apples has done them any good either.. I question just how "few" the bad ones are.. especially when there are cover-ups..

I am not sure what Islam has to do with this.. I don't think I have ever commented on Islam..

Do you really think that anyone wants the cops to just go around shooting and beating people?
The department in the town where I grew up was about as bad as they get but I know that most cops are decent people, and there are more of them who qualify as heroes than there are bad apples.

Generally I'll take the word of a poster relating a personal experience. My problem with this is trying to imagine what asshole in their right mind would go to a strangers house after having been invited to their BBQ, visably strapped. I've never heard of anything like that before.

Me either, sounded fishy from the outset, and I said that not only would I not do that but that the guy was a jerk. As usual he ignored that I said that (and repeated it) and insisted on berating me for not saying what I repeatedly told him I said.
I have never known anyone to do this with one exception.
The guy was head of security at our Shakespeare Festival, and he came straight from work, still in uniform.

Whether or not you believe it,that's what happened.
your choice on where you fall on that but the fact that you agree that he had to have been an asshole to ring my bell like that means we actually agree on something.

But I had to say it 10 times (or so, I am not sure of the exact number so don't go back count and play gotcha).
Like everything else I have said it takes forever for you to accept that I said anything that doesn't give you an excuse to rant. Was he by chance a cop who came straight from work, because that is the only way your story makes any sense.

Whether or not you were also a jerk depends on how far your story differs from what actually happened.

slvemike4u -> RE: It Looks Like This Police Officer Fucked Up (4/15/2015 8:18:01 PM)

No,he wasn't .
See here you are trying desperately to find some way this guy wasn't simply an asshole.
And that right there is my issue with you,he's a gun guy so he couldn't have been that fucking stupid is your whole basic premise.
Hate to bust your bubbly cupcake but a whole lot of you "gun guys" are assholes...that's why so many fucking people wind up with bullets in them....assholes with guns.
This man,the father of my nephews friend ,was one such asshole, accept it and move on or shove it.
I don't really give a shit....but stop trying to tell me you agree with me than take two giants steps back and try to find justification for his actions.
You sound like a broken fucking record, and an idiot to boot.

I asked a question to try to understand why he would do that. Not a single word defended him. But let's not let that get in the way of a stupid rant.

BamaD -> RE: It Looks Like This Police Officer Fucked Up (4/15/2015 8:55:55 PM)

FR

In a (likely futile) attempt to get this back on track I and everyone else on here agree that the cop the thread started about screwed up.
On the 2nd shooting the cop haters, and there are a couple, if your not you know it and that wasn't aimed at you. Apparently didn't read the linked Post article.
Far from being a untrained wannabe he was, according to the Sheriff highly trained in investigation and was in fact doing undercover work with drug dealers.
He saw a man running from an arrest for an illegal gun sale (I apologize for my earlier belief that he was a drug dealer) which is by definition a dangerous person, and reacted.
Can we stay at least within shouting distance of the subject.
