As far as I can see-- it just ain't such a big deal. My response broken down is: quote:
Except in income to the states in taxes, Which is a BIG deal. There is a LOT of taxable income to be made. quote:
less police having to enforce that side of things, and therefore able to enforce greater crimes, etc. Police having to worry less about pot usage therefore being able to work on bigger issues. quote:
ORIGINAL: kdsub Yes but you cannot have it both ways... statistics show that people on drugs are among the top causes of fatal auto accidents...and I do believe I read that auto accidents from impaired driving went up in Colorado after legalization of pot. I am not comparing the risk of alcohol use and pot...but I am saying this study does show significant adverse effects of pot on the body... take it or leave it i guess. Butch I am not saying I can have it both ways. I am saying that I do not believe someone should be allowed to harm another. I do believe they should be able to make choices for themselves. As I said, I have never been drunk, nor high, nor any other sort of intoxicated. I have been tired, however. And I CHOOSE, for myself, not to drive in that state, because I am impaired. See how simple that is? I also CHOOSE for myself and others when I go out with friends and drive, so that they can CHOOSE to damage their bodies however they wish and still get home safe without harming others. That is why you suggesting people having the right to do whatever they want to their bodies and people harming others are the same thing is actually incredibly, totally wrong.
