ORIGINAL: kdsub CD I must admit I have thought the same thing myself... But... there are just too many looters of all ages for them to be just criminals and out to steal. There has to be more to it and I do think it is misguided anger and just a lashing out with no real purpose. These looters have grown up with seeing black men and women looting in riots their whole lives most likely... so I believe they just think this is the way to protest... Misguided I guess... Most are not really bad people... put sometimes good people do stupid things for a reason even if it is the wrong reason. Butch anyone (any skin colour) can lash out when they are frustrated and angry.. and that happens every day- an example- husbands/wives coming home after a bad day at work and lashing out at their spouse/partner/children, etc .. Can anyone say that hasnt ever happened to them? they usually lash out at those closest to them that have had no connection to their bad day at work.. these riots/looting is a very extreme version of that, imo.. Most people have no control over a bad day at work, the rioters have no control over the racism and harassment by police.. Both are venting in a bad way.. First, I'm going to use Freddie Grey as an example only because his information was made public. This is not to imply everyone who rioted has a similar record. Freddie Grey was arrested, mostly for drugs, 18 times between 2007 and when he was put in the van by the police. Probably the last time into the van was 19. That is a choice, not a snap at family because you had a tough day. Good policing, bad policing I have no comment. Former mayor O'Malley says it was good policing. Cloudboy's author says it was terrible racist policing. But what I know it isn't is just a snap lashing out by a human. They burned their own place down. The mayor gave them room to do it, although she recants now. None of that was necessary for MLK. In fact, when the governmental powers in force against MLK treated his movement like these rioters acted, MLK taught that was not the way. You dont seem to understand my post, it wasnt about Gray (I never mentioned his name at all), it was about rioters, the anger they feel and why they rioted. And from what i have read on Gray, there was absolutely no legal reason, no probable cause at all to chase him and then arrest him.. His past record has no bearing on this latest arrest.. running from the police when you have not been stopped or detained by them is not a reason to be arrested.. Even when the police caught up to him, there was no reason to arrest him.. According to Baltimore chief prosecutor Marilyn J. Mosby he was illegally arrested.. now the cops face trial for what happened to him.. Btw, I may not run when i see a cop but i get away from them as fast as my short stubby legs will take me (I actually walk fast all the time).. I am white but I have seen cops harassing other people so I think cops overstep their authority way too often.. I have sympathy for what blacks and hispanics go thru with cops harassing them.. I think most black people (or anyone harassed by cops) have a right to be angry about that, however that doesnt mean i condone rioting.. Florida police accused of racial profiling after stopping man 258 times, charging him with trespassing at work http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/police-stop-man-258-times-charge-trespassing-work-article-1.1526422 When I see cops I wave at them, sometimes I even start conversations with them, always respectful. Never had any of the problems that y'all seem to think are SOP.
