Actually, that *would* be a horror story in the UK (and, I suspect, most of Europe, Australia and NZ) - regardless of the fact that the kid is recovering.

He didn't say it wasn't a horror story, the kids parents at some point totally screwed up or he wouldn't have taken the gun to school in the first place. Classic bad parenting. A kid getting shot is appalling here England or where ever. Lucy tried to leave the impression that the injured child was killed, which would have been a much worse horror story.

Blacks and Hispanics outnumber whites in gangs 4 to 1 and yes they are responsible for the vast majority of crime and gun deaths in the US. This disparity is even greater when the percentage of the general population is considered.

I know that, but the statement had been made implying that I was blaming violence on gangs because they were all non white, or because in the minds of our great authorities on American society from Canada and Australia, I thought that only none whites where in gangs.
A person would have to be an idiot not to realize that gangs (mostly financed by the drug trade) are responsible for the vast majority of crime in this country.
