Actually adding all forms of murder hurts their argument because our non firearms murder rate is also higher than theirs.

Would you attribute that to yankee ingunuity or southern hospitality?

Actually The most quoted numbers quoted here are "just" Gun deaths.
Then they get split into murders, suicides and accident.
The actual murder rate is rarely brought up.

The most quoted numbers by those who only want to highlight the number of gun deaths. But when comparing countries, rates are the only data that matters. And when assessing the effect of firearms laws on homicide rates, you have to take all homicides into account. Reducing the number of gun homicides with little or no effect on the overall homicide rate shows that the laws only suppressed gun ownership, not homicides.

this....id latin you to death but its friday night,

It doesn't matter how many bodies litter the streets as long as they weren't shot?

Well, I don't view that as "putting words in her mouth" (see above).

K.

its a strawman and ad hominem

The figures for homicides in 2013 in the US was 14,000 (not exact) with a rate of 4.7"
The figure for homicides, in 2013 in the uk was 500.(not exact) with a rate of 1.7
The figures for homicides in 2013 was was 543(exact). with a rate of 1.6
All rates are lower than they have been.
Going into violent crime figures is useless as there are not uniform numbers required to make analysis.
PS Ive brought up rates and figures for ALL kinds of homicide figures, not just "gun deaths" many many many times.

... Europe doesn't have to deal with many refugees coming by makeshift boat from Haiti or Cuba on a regular basis, nor do they have Mexicans & others from Latin America crossing the Rio Grande to get in by the thousands each day.

- not from Haiti or Cuba but from Northern Africa and the Middle East crossing the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas
- and they do have several thousands refugees each day, some days more than 10 000 each day, crossing the borders of Austria and Germany (and the countries between here and Greece) on the Balkan route

No, it's OK, thanks all the same, Lucy. I've run out of interest in the whole subject of guns for the time being, anyway, to be honest.
