Seriously..., if she reacts with outrage or disgusted look, just apologise and compliment how good the outfit look on her, and I doubt he'd get slap. It's how he go about doing it.
You may not be offended by being called a Dominatrix... but someone else very well might. And if they have no particular knowledge of the scene, they very likely would... since "kinky sex" is not generally looked upon favourably by those who do not engage in it.
Social gaffs are not giant disasters though, just embarrassing. One can always just apologize and move on, whether you are congratulating a fat woman on her impending child, or complimenting a clueless woman on her Dominatrix outfit :)
