The value of something is what you can get for it.
How much did the slave owners get for the freed slaves?
Zip.

The treasonous punksasmotherfuckers are damn fortunate they did not get a noose.

Nor was that my argument. The cost of freeing the slaves was a civil war,

Only to a moron...the cost of maintaining the union was the cost of the civil war.

Lincoln (the guy in charge) said it was one and one reason only. I cited the statement. Perhaps in your haste to run your mouth comrade you failed to notice it.

or to disagree with someone and not insult them?

Something you seem uncapable of doing comrade.
People with whom you disagree you lable with names that you find insulting. When the same name is used in reference to yourself you take exception and whine like a little punkassmotherfucker. Why is that comrade? Is it because you think that by delivering small insults you become immune to the same insult? If you do not like being insulted perhaps you should stop seeking to insult others.
I am civil to everyone on this board until they cease being civil to me then they become comrade punkassmotherfucker or something more sever.
Now why don't you grow up and stop acting like a child.

From :https://www.measuringworth.com/uscompare/relativevalue.php

"In 2014, the relative value of $1.00 from 1860 ranges from $22.00 to $3,950.00. "

So if a slave cost $500, that is at least $11,000. The plantation owners were buying them all the time until their importation was outlawed. (which was before the civil war) Did the common Man have the money ? How many owned slaves ?

And what's more, what do we owe for, cotton picked ? Seriously, did the government buy slaves to build roads and bridges, or other needful structures ? Did they use slave labor to build the railroads ? (if so, get the reparations from the railroads) Do you wear cotton clothing that is 150 years old ? What do we owe for ?

The reparationists claim the slaves built this country. Where ? What ? I am not being sarcastic, it is a serious question.

I am one of those people who know there is no law you have to pay income tax. the process whereby you do this and don't get in hot water is another story and quite frankly I would rather not share it openly. The guy who did it and gave me the information wanted to share it, I told him he should not do that because if too many people do it they will fix it so you can't do it anymore.

But I would say that unearned income is a different thing. When you make money off the stock market nowadays, that is tax money. It comes to Wall St. in the form of quantitative easing. Even without that, money made for nothing probably should be taxable. Same with monies made from licensing of patents or copyrights.

In these cases, you are using the infrastructure to make money and therefore you should be supporting that infrastructure. This is fine with me. But to tax your actual labor that you perform, no.

So to tax unearned income to support a sort of safety net, well that is not so bad. It is the earned income with which I have issue.

Now of course this idiot with the just give the Blacks all your unearned income, well fuck him. All of it ? Sounds like an armed robber "Gimme all your money". It is not like they point a gin at you and say "Look Man, I am really desperate to get home and I need about $30 for gas". Doesn't work that way. So the guy has the mentality of a thug. Not fucking surprising at all. Probably is an Al Sharpton disciple.

I would offer them like ten or twenty grand to go and renounce their citizenship and move to Africa. Free air fare even. NOT FUCKING ONE OF THEM WOULD TAKE IT, even though they could live like a King in some parts with that money. Actually buy land and farm it. After Mugabe, there is a demand for food down there. they could be like Ben Cartwright and own something like the Ponderosa if a few of them can get along and buy a big enough piece of land. But then that only will work for a few thousand of them.

They have to admit that they WANT to be here. They do. What happened to their ancestors is one thing, but this is all they know.

So to be fair, let's give them reparations but require they renounce their citizenship, since it was bestowed upon them by force. Let's say even $100,000. It really isn't that much in light of the military spending. And they are also off Obamacare. And they never set foot on US soil again, just like those who renounce their citizenship and report taxation as the reason. (lots of people doing that, but they give a different reason so they can come and visit)

It would be restoration, they could get in touch with their roots.

Actually, there is a country somewhere offering immigrants money to leave, this is not that different. I forgot which one but I am pretty sure they wanted to get rid of Muslims or Arabs. I could have told them to keep their borders shut.

And BTW, I still want to know how the fuck the civil war could be over slavery when it started years before the emancipation proclamation. But that is a hijack for another time.

T^T

Thirty percent of the folks in the south owned slaves. I posted a link.

And what's more, what do we owe for, cotton picked ?

Labor not paid for.

Seriously, did the government buy slaves to build roads and bridges, or other needful structures ?

he government ran on import/export duties. much of which was paid by slavers on comodities produced by slave labor.

Did they use slave labor to build the railroads ? (if so, get the reparations from the railroads) Do you wear cotton clothing that is 150 years old ? What do we owe for ?

The government implimented, condoned and substantiated slavery.

The reparationists claim the slaves built this country. Where ? What ? I am not being sarcastic, it is a serious question.

See above

Even you cannot be this dense. The unearned income was the profits the slavers made on slave labor.

I would offer them like ten or twenty grand to go and renounce their citizenship and move to Africa.

Would you leave and go back to where ever your ancestors came from? Remember the federal government gave reparations to the japs that they locked up during the war. Do you want them to leave as a prerequisite to getting the money?

Free air fare even. NOT FUCKING ONE OF THEM WOULD TAKE IT, even though they could live like a King in some parts with that money. Actually buy land and farm it.

What does a clerk at wallmart know about farming?

After Mugabe, there is a demand for food down there. they could be like Ben Cartwright and own something like the Ponderosa

That was a tv program not real life.

They do. What happened to their ancestors is one thing, but this is all they know.

Not every one is johnnie cochran or kobe briant.

So to be fair, let's give them reparations but require they renounce their citizenship, since it was bestowed upon them by force.

Not so. It was bestowed on them by constitutional ammendments.

That would be your moronic opinion.

It was for the south not the north. I have posted cites to validate that issue.
