ORIGINAL: MuscleBoundDom Both men and women are accused of double standards. Yup, this makes sense to me. I think that at different times both men and women are accused of double standards. One thing that strikes me is that you could read this as "all men" and "all women" which in this sense is probably fair. You could also read it as a claim that they are accused of double standards by everyone - which wouldn't make much sense. When people say "women are X" or "men are X" they're walking into something of a dead end, since generalisations can often turn out to be pretty foolish. But, on the face of it at least, I can't disagree with your top level statement. quote:
Both men and women are sensitive about their weight, especially if they are feeling not at their best. Both men and women can be sensitive about their height, especially if they are feeling not at their best. This is also true, provided that it's read as "both some men and some women..." I, for example, am not particularly sensitive about either of those things. So, to your specific case. Yes, it seems that you've encountered someone who has double standards. But I'm sure that you wouldn't be so stupid as to conclude that all women would react in the same way.
