I've officially lived with a local man, an aussie, a brit, and a dutch. Never with an American man, is it normal for American men so nosy on things they shouldn't interfere things like how to load dishwashers? Wow!

It never even occur to me it would be possible men bother with these stuffs lol. I just never been with one that cares about anything in the household!

On top of that, I'm usually the dishwasher as I actually enjoy washing dishes ALOT. Can't imagine a guy coming over to direct me on that job I pride myself in doing.

The man's job is to cook in all my live ins.

I have actually never experienced living with a man in my life where we had household issues over like crockeries, cutlery, toilet seats, I don't know, basically, somehow, the guys I connect with, when we move together and live together, usually no conflict on these sorts of things, the living together part is always easy.

Perhaps, all the men I've been with have been easy going and just leave household decisions to me, and don't interfere or feedback anything. And they didn't have any weird habits that annoyed me. My biggest conflict when I start getting unhappy is just lack of sex. But of course, my requirement for sex is excessive for most men.

Maybe you are underestimating your own qualities.

Perhaps it is just that you who are clean and organised whilst also being laid back about what your partner does so that there is never any major conflict. In short the perfect partner.

Can't say anything about the sex drive bit!

So, usually, I am seriously not organized or neat. Clean yes, as I am terrified of insects developing. Phobia of insects, so nothing is gonna be left around possibly attracting insects.
But usually I experience men don't bother with household stuffs at all. They just leave it alone to the woman totally. And I think I'm a fussy and particular person, but if the man practice good hygiene over all, he pretty much can't annoy me doing anything. If his dirty sort of person, then I wouldn't be with him in the first place.

Don't think it's anything to do with nationality. It's just how some people handle conflicts or differences.

I have been with people who I have never really argued with throughout the whole relationship; where we both got on with our stuff, shared the work and fitted in with each other the best we could. At the other extreme I have been with someone who objected to the way I washed my own clothes because it was as if I was telling her how to wash clothes. (This was me washing my own clothes in my own home by the way.)

It seems that I can get by living with someone and doing at least 50% of the housework without any conflict, but some people can't. Whether it is lack of respect, real differences in people's ideas of cleanliness, intolerance of others or a desire to cause unnecessary fights, depends on the person.

To an extent, who needs the drama? Long may you have domestically harmonious relationships.

Lol! OMG! That's crazy! My brit dude is obsess with doing laundry, and I just let him do it. His always looking for clothes to wash. My Aussie dude loves to Iron clothes. He says it relaxes him. So I'm more than happy to let him iron. All my guys loves to cook. So most of the time, they were actually quite considerate cooks and don't really mess up the kitchen too bad for clean up. My x-husband was the neat freak, so he likes putting everything super tidy, super orderly and in it's place, and it's like, whatever, great, his my organiser!

LadyPact -> RE: Wrong Vs. Not right (3/3/2016 6:40:28 AM)

Greta, as I said earlier, the dishwasher thing is one of the running gags in my house, so it is laughed about. However, neither of the other people here actually mess with the way I do the dishes. MP doesn't do dishes because I want them done my way.

Laundry? Nope. I'd have to be on my death bed to let MP do my laundry. I'd be surprised if he even knew what drawer my t-shirts go in. He gets credit though, because he does do his own uniforms.

I think I confused some people on this thread yesterday. I'm seeing this as people who spend time in my house, while others are looking at the relationship further along and are talking permanent residency. This might be why I have a different mindset than others.

OK. For fun. It is only fair to clue you in on the dish thing. It's a running gag that's been on these boards for years. Most people who have been around the forums know it and everybody who has ever been over to my house knows it.

In my house, we wash the dishes before we wash the dishes. That neat appliance that some people have in their homes is not a dishwasher. It is a dish sanitizer. The human is the dish washer.

I am not anal retentive about how quickly the dishes get done. If we're having fun doing whatever, I don't care. However, when it's time to do them, they will go through soapy water, the washing motions will happen, they will get rinsed, then go in an organized fashion into the appliance. Run the appliance. Put the dishes away where they actually go.

I've heard everything from it's funny, crazy, wastes water, and everything else imaginable. However, it is how we do the dishes in my house.

Personally I would rather dispense with the appliance, and just wash and rinse, but hey, it's how you do it so would anyone else make a big thing about it. It's certainly clean and you can't argue with that!

Everyone laughs because I arrange all my clothes by colour in the wardrobe, and I have a thing about knives being used on boards, just like ExiledTyrant.

I guess you fit in, laugh and respect people's ways, especially in their own homes. You have to have a good reason to do other than that. Sometimes there is a good reason, but sometimes it is just being contrary or bloody-minded.

When it's deliberate aggravation or lack of respect, that's the point I start to get upset. As a sub myself, I also have little time for submissive passive-aggression about this stuff, which certainly happens in some relationships.

I'm big on cutting boards, myself. I'm also one of those people who can tell you where everything is in my kitchen, so if it gets moved, it's going back. (My husband seems to think this applies to everything in the entire house, so he literally asks me where any given thing is. LOL.)

Greta75 -> RE: Wrong Vs. Not right (3/3/2016 6:51:03 AM)

I have never used a dishwasher before, because I feel like it's a bit double job. You still gotta clean the plates, rinse it clean, and then load it into the machine! Mine as well just use anti-bac dish detergent and just wash the whole plate and rinse and done.

If I can just dump dirty plates with all the gunk into a dishwasher, I might consider getting one!

I take it back - maybe it is about nationality after all. Like your "brit dude", I always do all my own laundry. I never criticise what anyone else does. I just do my own laundry, in my own way.

Oh dear - I'm not sure what the laundry says about me really. I never give anyone else my clothes to wash, which isn't exactly very trusting. But then I never expect anyone ever to do my laundry - it is the 21st century after all.

Mmmmm - I really don't know. [:(]

Noooooooo.

Don't say that in front of LP. I can almost hear the heart rate getting faster from here and I'm on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

No food in the dish sanitizer. [sm=gaah.gif]

Me too by the way. Please at least wipe the plates before putting them in the dishwasher.

And on that piece of unsolicited domestic advice I'm bowing out before I start discussing all my domestic chores at length.

I would make a joke about how far we have come in this thread from CollarSpace to "Good Housekeeping" but only Brits above a certain age would get it. If you are from the UK and over forty consider the joke made.

OK, I passed by every persons response BC I had to ask this....
You said you let you cutler dry in the block.
By that did you mean the knife block? That would drive me insane. Here's why, wet cutlery, dripping into block. Wouldn't that form mold?

But on your subject, yes, there ate plenty of wrong things to do!! Hubby says I'm too particular, but it's just how I am.

Yes, dry in the wooden block, not plastic. Trust me, I got a germ thing, so I chose the cutlery set carefully considering all factors... particularly that the cutting edge of the blade doesn't run under the handle into the tang.

I wanted a wooden block that would keep the blades true and that the block itself would drain and not pool moisture. See, that's why I have nice things ;)

TNDommeK -> RE: Wrong Vs. Not right (3/3/2016 1:17:39 PM)

Ok making sure, the only thing I kept thinking was one of those blocks where it pools. I was about to die!
I'm a germaphobe

Ha! I'm the laziest person I know. So if I am going to get off my lazy ass and do anything, I am going to over do it more than right so I don't ever have to mess with it again.

I just built a new porch that you could build a skyscraper upon because I don't ever want to mess with it again... besides, I needed a wheel chair ramp cuz my nephew is going to be in a wheel chair for a few months and he's a super hoss... I could walk a team of Clydesdales up that ramp each morning for breakfast and never have to fix a thing ;)

DesFIP -> RE: Wrong Vs. Not right (3/3/2016 2:47:55 PM)

I always let the knives drip dry while I finish the rest of the dishes. Because I don't want the block to grow mold.

The Man thinks you should put forks in the dishwasher, tine side down so you don't prick yourself when you empty it. I think they should go in tines up because the tines get stuck too often otherwise.

We have agreed to disagree.

Modern dishwashers can accept unrinsed plates. But I'm not on town septic and I don't like the idea of food particles in the septic tank. I've redone the leach field once, and had to dig up the bottom half twice when artesian springs suddenly developed and you need to add catch basins and pipes to get the water to run down hill. I've had to dig up the septic tank twice and that's enough.
