ORIGINAL: PeonForHer I *do* hope that no 'red tape' gets in the way of your being waterboarded or otherwise tortured, should some military person, somewhere, and on whatever flimsy basis of evidence, ever considers it necessary. It goes without saying that you'd feel the same way. In fact, I can see you lying there, strapped down, screaming out, 'Get on with it and apply those electrodes to my genitals. What are you afraid of - are you a pussy?' [:)] Peon, whenever I say I believe in torture, if I was implicated in anywhere as a terrorist and I was tortured, so be it. I rather be wrongly tortured than allow the possibility of not saving thousands of lives, just because they got too pussified to do it. You do know that, many layers of intelligence have to verify this is the person who planted the bomb or involved in it, before they can even start torturing the person. I believe in that process. And if through that thorough process, I am implicated, then so be it. I still will not change my mind that this is necessary to keep people safe. As with every system, something will fall through cracks. Kind and humane, you might get french bombing or that recent indonesia shooting. That's kind and humane. You will miss something, and more people will die. Wrongly torture one innocent person, which one do you prefer to fall through the cracks? Massive amount of people, or a few wronged folks? If there were kind and humane methods that work in cracking terrorists, of course, who wouldn't choose that. But I don't believe there is.
