He doesn't believe in much of anything except himself, so he can say whatever he wants and without having to worry about going against his value system - because it doesn't exist.

Frankly, this is why Sanders, Cruz and Rubio are having trouble against the pair of ciphers that are leading the tickets. Sanders, Cruz and Rubio all have value sets and ideological beliefs. This prevents them from being on both sides of at least the major questions facing them. Neither Clinton nor Trump have values to speak of, beyond what will enrich them the most. Trump and Clinton are the insult to the intelligence of the people who support them. The poor morons supporting those two just project their own values on The Donald and Herself and both candidates do everything in their power to let them think what they want.
