Status: offline 		the military is begining to recruit women for all combat roles. the plans are under review, there could be women serving in the former all male marine and navy infantry.
how do you see this good bad undecided

I have no problem AS LONG AS physical requirements are not watered down.

Thats the way it is in almost every country where women are allowed to serve in combat roles, and it makes the most logical sense.

Status: offline 		No physical requirement is always waterdowned for women no matter what, because it's impossible for women to meet men's physical standards. Not physically possible.

All fitness test has lower standards for women.

But ya know, in Vietnam war, it was the 4'10 80lbs women that took down 6ft, 250lbs American soldiers with ease, so I guess it could work.

Sorry when I visited Vietnam, that's what they claim. They claim one pint size women took down 1000 American soldiers on her own. In their own history. And she was tiny.

Status: offline 		Well, it wasn't fist combat, it was snipping. And they were rewarded with money, quite a bit, because they get a sum of money, per body count of American Soldier they shot down. Maybe it was 100 and not 1000 and I remembered wrongly. They were showing these old black and white video of female soldiers going up on stage, receiving their cash for the number of American soldiers they shot down.

I gotta say you know how it's like, if you go Vietnam war Museums, Americans are painted as evil terrorists.

Status: offline 		I'm cool with it only if they do hold them at the same standards as their male counterparts. That's the plan, I believe, and very few women will make it I'm sure. I just hope they don't feel pressured and eventually give in to lowering standards to increase the number of women in certain roles.

Status: offline 		I don't believe it's not lowered. I am talking about physical test. No matter what, even basic tests, women gets to do less push up to pass, things like that. They wouldn't be able to get any women in combat IF the standards were not different. Everyone will fail.

It's scientifically proven for example that it's much harder for women to master pull up than men.

Talking about this, I soooooo badly wanna see Ronda Roussey versus Mayweather! I know Ronda got beat up recently, but I'd love to see a girl beat that Mayweather idiot up in a fair inside ring match ha!

Status: offline 		Lyudmila Pavlichenko was the most successful soviet female sniper in WW2 and considered to be the most successful in history and she is only credited with 309 kills. It takes little to squeeze a trigger but quite a bit more strength and stamina to hump what's attached to that trigger and all the other ancillary equipment all over the boondocks

Yes I know they protray us as monsters.
I know of several women who were effective as snipers, and some who would be effective in hand to hand combat. That is still no reason to lower the standardsfor women. The women who have tried out for the seals have bombed out because they couldn't keep up.

Status: offline 		They already lower standards for women in police departments, fire departments and the military. I know of one incident in San Diego where a female f14 pilot who couldn't develop the skills to do carrier landings but was allowed to become a carrier pilot anyway and it cost her her life. I'm not saying women can't be just as good as men in a lot of things including being pilots as long as they can pass the same test as men. There's a reason for training standards and if you lower them you could unnecessarily put peoples life in danger when you do.
On another note Lyudmila Pavlichenko used a mosin nagant bolt action rifle which are readily available here in the US for a reasonable price and are still a very capable weapon.

I'm all for women in combat so long as those women can perform at the same level required for the job. I'm a female myself. If I was serving alongside the guys in a combat role, those guys Im with deserve to be able to count on me to do the same job as the guy who's place I was taking. There is no room for a liability (be it male or female) up on the front lines.

My sister was knocked up while on (PX bought) birth control pills while she was in the Army. Thank God it was by her husband and that she was in the USA and not in some God forsaken prison camp.

1000 would be 1 out of every 76 Americans killed in Veitnam.
That is of course a VC propaganda faclity and they may claim to have killed a million Americans.
They certainly don't mention that we kicked their rear in every battle of any size.

Status: offline 		Most battles in WW2 were close order fights too, whereas most of Vietnam ( believe) was open order or in thick scrub/jungle, so it would be easier to find and pick a target on the eastern front I would say. and as you said, there is a certain propensity to exaggerate and pad out the figures somewhat *smile*.

Status: offline 		And there also is one of the reasons there are no women in the Foreign Legion.................they refuse to lower their standards of fitness and toughness. I can remember big, strong, tough men weeping with fatigue and frustration at the end of a 40 km route march through shit scrub country in full battle order. I was one of them. I just can't see many women being able to do that and still be ready to fight at the end of the day. I know I wasn't *smile*. I collapsed to my knees outside my tent and fell asleep in that position. The sergeant and caporal eventually dragged me into the tent and threw me on my cot, still clutching my MAS *smile*.....................then they whispered those words every grunt wants to hear ......................."Full inspection at 07.00 tomorrow morning. Goodnight".

I am not disagreeing to having equal standards but I am saying it's not true that, they don't have different standards for male and female. They always lower requirements for female in combat to let them in. I do not believe for once all the female combat soldiers were subjected to the exact same standards as men in their fitness regime and tests.

No, there's no upside for him.

If he loses (he wouldn't, but let's just explore the option), then he got beat up by a girl.

If he wins.... then he beat up a girl.

Either way, he loses.

One of the things which people often fail to appreciate is just how much stronger men are than women. Floyd's only about 15 pounds or so heavier than Ronda - but so much more of his weight is muscle compared to hers. If Ronda thinks getting punched by Holly Holm was bad.... she doesn't really want to get in a ring with Floyd Mayweather.

If they're not, then they're compromising the fighting ability of the force. The average infantry grunt has to carry a pack with a minimum weight of 50 pounds and an average weight of between 95 and 135. In Afghanistan, it's frequently 150.

If anyone seriously thinks the average woman is going to carry her own body weight on her back, they're delusional. Bottom line, if women can't meet the physical and mental requirements for combat, they just shouldn't be there.
