In the old days, kids used to take their new rifle to school for show and tell.

Not in your lifetime has that ever been true.

Of course it is and was - the liberal area you grew up in doesn't reflect how everyone grew up.

Who knew that houston ,texas and newport bch. california were a hotbed of liberalism?

You forget probably, that you could buy thompson machine guns (fully automatic 50 rounds a minute) machine guns - in hardware stores. Sears sold them in its catalogs.

The thompson originally fired 1200 rpm later reduced to 800 rpm. The navy ordered some that would fire at 600 rpm but no dumbass they did not fire 50 rpm.
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

Sears, Montgomery Ward, other mainstream department stores sold guns over the counter. It was sort of a rite of passage for a boy to get his first .22 rifle.
I remember going out shooting when I was around 7.

What is your point. You did not buy the gun because they would not sell a gun to a child dumbass.

You miss the whole point. People had guns, in the glove box, the sink drawer, the nightstand or under the bed even. Gun deaths were nil compared to what they are today.

The fact is that THERE ARE NOT MORE GUNS and there is more gun violence, so logically the presence of guns is not the problem. Actually, it is the presence of people who are not mature enough to handle a killing machine.

Until people wake up and understand that we will never be at the root of the problem.

So logically the presence of guns is not the problemTermyn8or I find it almost impossible to debate with bad malarkey...so I will deal with you firstly.

Gathers up his picnic basket and goes of to watch the first battle in the America civil war 36,000 v 36000 racists...throws up his picnic on his lap ( I had cake if you wondered :) I had no idea such carnage as i thought it would be pretty....4000 dead, or was it injured and dead..... what do I look like an American historian. So let me do some maths 4000/72000 Termyn8or 6 in 100. I think that's pretty bad going really and believe the rate these days a lot less..and gun ownership more prolific.

Correct. In the last 20 years the number of guns has doubled, and the number of murders has cut almost in half. It seems that every time I mention this I have to explain that while this does not prove that more guns = less crime it destroys the idea that more guns = more crime.
There is often the appearence of more killings but this is for two reasons.
A 24 hr news cycle , if it bleeds it leads
and
B most people in the media suffer from gunaphobia.

Yes, I think thats a fair trade.

The dems have nothing to do with this so why do you think they should have to agree with anything?

No, it's abundantly clear that you don't. Please stop speaking.

Stef, one thing you and thompson have in common is when ya do appear, it's only negative comments but contributing nothing enlightening or interesting to the topic discussion at hand.

This is what I call, a pointless comment! Just proves my point that Libs is against freedom of speech.

Except that you have no right of free speech in this forum.

It was not the Rep party that proposed open carry at the convention, it was a internet poll, you know the sort of thing that the left normally dismisses, let alone try to hold someone who didn't do the poll responsible.
Thus since you want to hold the Reps responsible for something they didn't do, and you may want to take note that it is almost exclusivly liberals who think they should do it, it is just as reasonable to insist on the Dems doing something.
You do understand that while it may well not apply to you many of the left on here are pushing for the open carry for one or both of the following reasons.

A It is an excuse to attack Republicans.
or
B They have wet dreams of Republicans shooting each other up and and cannot concieve of a large number of armed a civilians being together without a massive gunfight.

How did they silence the opposition? Trump has put himself infront of all the hateful libs interviewer and taken them head on. That's pretty respectful of freedom of speech. Allowing them to mock him to his face.

He has reporters thrown out of his rallies. He threatens to sue anyone who prints anything negative about him, even if it's true, so unless you are already rich and can afford to fight him in court, you shut up.

Actually, taking a second look at the article, it turns out that the poll was intended as satire to start a discussion about gun control. http://www.newsweek.com/gop-convention-open-carry-petition-441808

I support the 2nd amendment, but I think that he poses some relevant questions.

Jim, a public health worker who says he is “absolutely” a gun control advocate, is based on the West Coast. He wonders why “the Republicans acquiesce so docilely” to the Secret Service simply denying them the right to have guns at their convention. In the petition, Jim quotes all three Republican candidates—Trump, Ted Cruz and John Kasich—each of whom have said they’d eliminate “gun-free zones” in areas such as schools and military facilities.

“Why shouldn’t guns be allowed [at the convention] if they should be allowed everywhere else?” says Jim. “I think it gives the candidates the easy out. Why doesn’t the Secret Service allow guns at the convention? Is it possible that it makes candidates and convention-goers less safe? Then can we ask them what they think about guns on playgrounds? Can we follow that advice?”

Thank you, you have confirmed that the advocates of the Reps engageing in a PR disaster are pro gun control.
I am opposed to gun free zones per se, however I do favor not allowing them in both college and military dorms. You are trying to expanf the anti gun free zone position to something entirely different. Sad thing is you most likely believe it.

Well, nothing is confirmed as you say it, in fact the opposite is true.

Americans for Responsible Open Carry opened a Change.org petition this week, asserting that the people attending the upcoming Republican Convention have a right to bring their guns.

https://www.change.org/p/quicken-loans-arena-allow-open-carry-of-firearms-at-the-quicken-loans-arena-during-the-rnc-convention-in-july-2

So, nutsuckers are slinking away from themselves and propagandizing out of the other side of their mouth. Face it, these chickenshit nutsuckers blame their doings on anyone but themselves.

There aint no gun control in those quotes, none of them. The nutsuckers are imploding. Do as I say pantshitting, and not as I do asswiping.

Yes, I saw that and thought it should be pointed out, if there is going to be any legitimate discussion on the article.

I am opposed to gun free zones per se, however I do favor not allowing them in both college and military dorms. You are trying to expanf the anti gun free zone position to something entirely different. Sad thing is you most likely believe it.

No, I am aware of the statistics regarding shootings in gun free zones vs. gun friendly areas. But considering the statements that the candidates have made, I would like to hear what they have to say about this. Especially when it comes to schools. Not just secondary and primary either. It is already allowed in some colleges, where professors are now expressing fears, and rightly so.

It's a conversation, one that needs to play out, at some point. It is no less relevant because of how it originated. The fact is that there are repubs latching onto it and giving it legitimacy.

In your link it lists the author, who is the person quoted in my post. That link traces him back to Change.org.

Right, and nothing about gun control, my response was to Bama, not you. Further, nothing there is satire, thats something you said that is not in evidence.

While the petition reads like a rallying cry from a staunch gun rights activist, Jim, who asked that his surname not be used out of concerns for his and his family’s safety, says he started it to prompt a national conversation about guns in America.

(from your article out of newsweek.) there is nothing there negative, nothing about control, nothing about satire, nothing about nutsuckers.............:) that nutsucker stuff imploding and their cowardice and their asswipe about carry and they dump that like the diarrhea out of their mouth.....

So, they are against open carry after they were for it, and its 'liberals' or 'leftwing' fault.
Nope.

So, a guy does the petition, and there is no disingenuousness in it, nor is there anything in his words that indicates pro gun control.

What is indicated is that nutsuckers are false, and cowards, and their howling about this right and that right is only valid when smearing others with their impugnations and innuendos, but by god, they wont carry guns around each other, but will carry guns in coffee shops and schools because................but nutsuckers arent dangerous?

They need to put up their Gun Free Zone signs, and stand in the garish light of day in their fucking shame and falsehoods.

They are destroying the country.
