I consider generally Europe more extreme left leaning over all and look at the difference.

Status: offline 		The First Amendment is pretty much the only one most people know. Americans are pretty much raised with 'freedom of speech" engrammed onto their brains from a very early age.

That German proportion looks seriously out of whack. Germany has had immigration trouble for some time and there's been a considerable amount of anti-Turkish sentiment. Plus a single anti-Islamic party ("Alternative for Germany") is gaining around 10% of the votes in local elections and around 7% in European Parliament elections.

I'd be surprised if that 70% was accurate.

Status: offline 		I believe Europe has a long history of speech censorship. Speek badly of the King/Queen/other royality, dictator, etc and there was punishment. I think this long standing censorship still continues there.

If I stood in my back garden, surrounded by my flock of cats naturally, and declared unto the world beware my plums are so huge they risk plucking perturbing the moon from its orbital plane.
Is that free speech and who would it offend and why or is it a lie and therefore not free speech so to spake and who decides and when and if to censor.

there is no speech censorship as you might imagine it - there is an anti-hate-speech legislation since many European countries did learn a horrible lesson how easily hate speech is turned into active persecution

the basic dilemma about free speech that you can say in public whatever you want but that in itself is no proof that it is the truth

many seem to think the louder, the more frequent means automatically the more true

this is not so

Yep, that sort of language would be proscribed in most public contexts in the UK. I'm glad of it, too: it adds nothing of any value; all it does is make the world unnecessarily uglier.

It's rather like seeing a dog turd on the footpath. The defence is like your confronting the dog's owner and him retorting that his dog was 'expressing itself'.
