ORIGINAL: Termyn8or I should be ashamed to admit it, but I do not know the name of the mayor of the town I live in. You know, that affects your life alot more than the President or a senator or congresscritter. In facct your city councilmen have even more effect on your life. I know who the MP incharge of my estate is, and where to find him if I got a problem! For me, I totally know who to go after, IF I have any complains or want to pressure any changes that will directly affect me. Fortunately over here, MPs actually even go door to door to listen to your feedback. It's just a whole different system. I actually do feel that our MP does work for us and take care of our concerns and give personal attention and pretty good customer service I gotta say, I always feel like our politicians are working for us. And they are very accessible to reach and talk to. And we kinda treat them like they are serving us, because we know our tax money pays them a handsome salary. Highest in the world, so we feel entitled that they serve us well. And the thing is, every single Minister is an MP too of some district. So you can go hunt down that Minister of a specific area that you need to bring your point across to, as well. They hold weekly Meet the People Sessions, so just go meet them and talk to them. But yea, when it comes to the US, I wouldn't know how meeting Mayors or Governors work. But end of the day, if you got an idea that could be good, in my own country, I know how to reach out to. I wouldn't know what to do in the US. You mean to tell me you can get "audience" with something like a city councilman ? Here, you have to tell the secretary "I got a thousand dollars" or you get nowhere. But you still ain't got Chavez's Venezuela beat. He used to go right out in the street and talk with the people, hear their gripes and grievances. The US put alot of millions of dollars into a campaign financing his rival in an election and Chavez put in pretty much nothing and won, proving that some things are not for sale sometimes. Those people liked Chavez and supported him, and when the US took him hostage they went and FOUGHT to get him back, and back into his big chair, where they had elected him. However, now that he is dead it is falling apart. Foreign influence and exploitation, what he, and Mossadeq, and Iran, and Iceland do. To NOT let other countries come and take our shit. The US, UK and Israeli governments do not like this shit where people in these governments think the natural resources migh, at least in part, belong to the People. They do hate our freedom and democracy, because our brand of it is tyranny. Take your oil, phosphorous, cadmium, yellowcake, diamonds, gold. Any country has anything these MF can sell they are taking it. Soon, the US and France are going to have a bit of a shortage of gold. they will be going into Mali to replenish it. You will be told of human rights violations or something. But they are going to steal a shitload of gold because both the US and France reneged on their promise to hold it. The US says they "leased" it out. I don't know what the French say, it is all Greek to me. Actually it is all doublespeak and it all means "We took it, fuck you get out, we have bigger guns". But to look good we will go steal you some gold to make up for it, OK ? That's how it works these days. T^T
