i know the emphasis of the article is slightly different than what im about to say, but indeed one of the underlying premises of it is that when people are themselves removed from having to pay personally for whatever they are "buying," expenses accrue in an out of control and wasteful fashion, and unfortunate things happen like what are described in the article.

If you had an adult read the article to you they would have pointed out to you that itwas the medical industry and not the patient with their hand in your pocket.

That was enlightening. From the article "The one that got me thinking, however, was a study of more than a million Medicare patients. It suggested that a huge proportion had received care that was simply a waste."

Gotta say considering this is a government run system, it doesn't surprise me a bit.

It would seem that you also failed to notice that it was the medical industry and not the government with their hand in your pocket.

Heath care should be free to all huwmans. There is no counter argument.

USA is abominable
UK is lacking that is simply because we did not keep up % of GDP, but part of that in the main is due to a particular political party in the UK beholding the greed and gluttony of the USA model because they are influenced by their vested interests and back handers. Note the UK has both systems and you will get preferential treatment, speedier routine operations and consultations in the private sector and also note the doctors divide their time between both systems and many of the NHS bits and bobs are cntrated/tender out to private companies who like making cash

The UK spent 8.5% of its GDP on healthcare in 2013, lagging behind Greece, Italy and Slovenia
This placed the UK 13th out of the original 15 countries of the EU and 1.7 percentage points lower than the EU-14’s level,” Appleby said, referring to the EU 15 without the UK.

interesting peice out this morning at MSNBC about the patent owner of a hep c drug are charging 1000 dollars per pill when it costs a dollar to make....
Martin Skrelli and Epipen are prime examples. the problem is pharma and insurance.
I cannot comprehend having to go to a lawyer or deal with an insurance company just to get the care I need. fuck that for a game of soldiers.
There isnt enough front line help and more people sucking off the system, non medically than medically

Not unusual lucylastic sometimes the disparity is greater

These medical companies (conglomerates) simply like making billions and blame the mark-up on research - the outrage of those lies - and not their gluttonous shareholders offending one of the ten commandments..pig fom the trough and that is an insult to pigs

Actually truth be told in my early years 20ish I went for two jobs within that industry
1. Job one what do you call that mouse or fluffy bunny rabbit - didn't get that one eh! I all devilish gorgeous and a brain that could wipe them out within a moment known as fleeting -dolly, they got a nobel for that
2. he gave me a funny handshake after that interview I almost hit the masonic bastard for that

So, here I am a sad olde man with a council of three cats

Excellent point!

If the private sector is the end-all and be-all in providing goods and services in all cases, why is healthcare 50% more in the US than anywhere else?

Was that Gilead? If it was, then the truth is a little more complicated than that they charge $1000 for a $1 pill.
