I agree that protests are useless. Millions of people around the world marched in protest to GW Bush's invasion of Iraq. How lame was that? Protests serve no utilitarian purpose other than to help the protestor feel good about himself. That is why effective protests need to in a peaceful manner hinder, inconvenience, or diminish some relevant sort of commerce. It comes down to a question of power. Almost always protestors lack institutional power and so have to resort to the sort of "blackmail" to which you refer, and that is proper; disruption has been historically successful until such time maybe when the institutions turn on the water cannons like they did in South Dakota last night. Interestingly, the water cannons, night sticks, and dogs backfired in Montgomery back in the day. Let's see what response and tenacity the First People muster. It is all about power. Only the powerful whine when the disenfranchised are not acting nicely.

Although it wont happen, its perfectly legal, as the nutsuckers say.

Not when they cross the line into threats of violence .

Nice double standard you got there.

For your comment to have any relevance you would have to show where I said violence was ok by anyone to make a political point, and since I haven't you can't.

oh im sure they must have had bunches, therefore making one of the rallying slogans of the revolution "no taxation without representation" a conservative myth.

How is it that self proclaimed college professor would be unaware that the king taxed his colonies from day one? Why did it take the colonist over a hundred and seventy years to complain?
You can read the reason in my post to mr. "eat shit and die"
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

No mr eat shit and die believes in useless protest. Any protest that has the potential to inconvenience you or yours is by your definition extortion and not a protest.

Why did it take the colonist over a hundred and seventy years to complain?

Because it took them that long to grow populous and prosperous enough to be able to consider independence as the solution to their dissatisfaction with an increasingly abrasive relationship with Parliament?

Just a wild guess.

By an examination of the history of non-disruptive protests. I don't see them as effective. Can you point out examples of successful protests that were not in some way disruptive? Please do.

Wild guesses seem to be the stock and trade of ignorant fools unaware of historical facts.
Would you like to try again?
Perhaps this time you might bring some facts to the table re: How many colonial govoners were elected by the people? Or perhaps how many of the britt citizens in the colonies were allowed to vote? Or perhaps population/income figures to support your wild guesses.
Your shrinking white male priviledge does not allow you to substitute wild guesses for fact any more

People don't need to you tell them what I think about protest.

Obviously, mr. eat shit and die, they do since you like to play word games that allow you to post your rascist rhetoric and then hide behind differential meanings for words used out of context.

I wrote a post on the subject, right at the beginning of this very thread,

Yes you did and your empty rhetoric has been shredded for all to see.

and I am an infinitely more reliable source than you.

You have been caught with your hand in the "rhetorical cookie jar" on numerous occasions...so no you are not even remotely a reliable source.

I know you think you're helping, being as you are such a good fellow, but you always fuck up.

Thus far you are the one who has been shown to be passing off rhetoric as fact.

Also the British decided to post troops in the colonies on a permanent basis after the French and Indian war (known in Europe as the Seven Years war).
Then they decided that the colonies should pay for the upkeep of those troops.
The colonists didn't want the troops there in the first place, they sure didn't want to pay for them and they at least wanted a say in both.

Do you have a say in whether anniston, ft rucker or redstone exist?
Do you have a choice in whether you pay for it or not?
You do realize that the colonies were part of g.b. why would they need permission from anyone to station troops there? Why should those being protected by those troops not pay for that protection.
Perhaps the university of dumbass doesn't teach colonial amerikan history?

I said "disruptive" not "violent." ML King advocated peaceful sit-downs in the path of overbearing Authority. The violence, as in the current case of the Dakota Sioux, comes from the over-reaction of Authority. We see that again and again when we look back at the history of disruptive protests, recent and distant past.

What is wrong with you racist out there, don't you like the white mans opinion. Oh wait, I forgot I don't matter, being white and all.

I am so sick and tired of the black man's bull shit. All you ever hear from the black man is hateful racist bull shit. My fellow democrats have become nothing more than a racist hate group. They make comments about how the racist haters have to admit there racism. Must be talking about themselves and the black man. All they talk about is how racist white people are, but who is doing all the hating, all the killing, all the looting, all the dividing, all the racist bull shit, "the black man". If the KKK and David duke is the examples of racist, ask yourself and research it how many people has these people killed, looted, murdered, burned, and divided in the last 8 years. The answer is none. In America to be a racist at heart you apparently have to be black. So you black people and privileged white guilty people, who want to follow BLM, can go jump off a cliff. You and yours are a shining example of true race based hate and as my fellow democratic senators and congress women say this hateful racism in the black community has to be wiped out and she is right. (She is black and knows the truth)
The only racism in this country is black racism. Suck it up black America, after all you have been sucking at the government TIT long enough. "

Folks will spew a lot of crap about this, but I am not condoning any violence or law breaking by anyone, just tired of old white guys taking the blame for everything.

The problem is that although technically they are free, many of them still have a slave morality. The left encourages this to continue being the benevolent group that they are... and suffering from a slave morality themselves.

A slave morality would be one where your betters say that you have to vote for some reprehensible fuckpile who molests thirteen year olds and then pays off their parents to drop the case because your betters in the party have told you that if you don't vote for him the wicked witch of Washington might win and you do what they say without pausing to think?
Yeah, none of that slavery mindset on the Right.
