An interesting graphic from the New York Times...

For many Americans, it feels as if the 2016 election split the country in two. To visualize this, we took the election results and created two new imaginary nations by slicing the country along the sharp divide between Republican and Democratic Americas.



Trump's America is on the left, Clinton's on the right. Story continues at the link.

Looking at Clintons America, most of that is in areas that will be underwater with climate change.. no wonder Trump & the Rs deny climate change, they want as many Democrat voters as possible to drown as the seas rise!..

When presented with data, or a phrase like "cities" versus "rural," I'm always curious to see what that would actually look like. We are highly visually-oriented creatures and we process visual information much more rapidly than pages full of numbers. I think it's interesting how a graphic can capture and present a ton of dry numerical data in an impactful way.

Status: offline 		the problem with those maps is that they are wrong, as there were Clinton voters in all the Trump areas and Trump voters in all the Clinton areas. The split is artificial, being based on the winning vote (which was not always the majority vote) by county, and therefore ignores all the minority voters.
The ideological divide is not as solidly geographical as that map suggests.
