Why's that surprising? Eisenhower's handlers found the mere existence of a communist state that close to Florida embarrassing. What's more interesting about the death of Castro is the news attention paid to anti-Castro "Cubans" in the 'States. They seem to have been handled rather less critically by the news agencies than the Palestinians who were captured on film celebrating the al-queda urban renewal programme of September 2001, weren't they?

Castro's first efforts in international relations would be as surprise to some here, I think, as would an education regarding the powers behind the powers that be who blocked it off. It doesn't matter how 'unsurprising' to smarmy arses like you or me that might be. But yes, the US so-called 'liberal media' have always provided the band trumpet to Miami ex-Cuban Mafioso, "freedom lovers!" they are alleged to be. Any "freedom!" that involves a lot of guns seems to be the story that sells, here. That's all any clan of murderers wants is freedom, right?
