Hillary is much closer on the "socialism scale" to Putin.

With Trump in office, Putin has a lot better chance (on any given day) to have a convenient devil to which he can point and tell his people what an evil empire we are.

It's the only "advantage" I can see for Putin; kind of like the way we kept the Shah or Saddam in power until it was convenient for us to remove them.

This is true, and I almost made this exact comment... but it turns out that during the cold war the west often referred to the USSR as a communist state, even though they didn't consider themselves to actually BE communist.

I think you should be more focused on how willingly and easily China is flaunting military threatening actions over a phone call. China is the biggest threat in this world today. I can't believe how many people miss this.

a) the USSR is past - vanished into thin air in 1991.
b) Russia is no longer a communist state (if it ever was ...) but a capitalist oligarchy, with Putin one of them
c) why Putin loves goldilocks in office is because the pussygrabber publicly declared in advance that Putin is his good buddy and he himself would care more about saving money than supporting NATO if Putin would take care of any Russian or pro-Russian minorities in Poland, the Baltic states (not to forget the central Asian republics while being at it) and so on in the way he did in the Ukraine and Georgia.

If ever Putin was invited to carry on with his aggressive policy to get a Greater Russia that was it.

Putin does not care the least what Americans think about their politicians (believe it or not, you are not THAT important at all) - only whether these politicians support his plans (either actively or by non-opposition) or delay or prevent them. Guess yourself who Putin supported and why.
